Sports cars should not come with automatic anything. It defeats the purpose.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

I guess that would depend on how you define the purpose.

Yeah, a real sports car should ideally come with these to put the windows down...

Too heavy. At least on the Mk2 Exige/Elise power windows were actually lighter.

Nah- removable vinyl side curtains or you're soft poser that doesn't truly appreciate motoring.

I converted my Z4 back to manual window operation... Didn't have to add a 3rd pedal though...

Yup, A70TTR has said Tada san has hinted at $50k price range for the 6 cylinder model. I'm not sure where everyone is getting this $70k price tag from.

On another note, a new interview. Anyone read Japanese?

Yeah, sure. OK, then:

Let's go ahead and put manual transmissions back in F1 cars. While we're at it, let's go ahead and put carbs, chokes, and cable-actuated throttle bodies and drum brakes back on 'em as well. I'll go on if you need me to ...

We go faster because we progress. Auto transmissions, in whatever form, are progress.

Well, no. There are many auto transmissions that were far from progress from the manual - powerglide, dynaflow, push button, etc.

And give it a few years and we'll all have single speeds. EV's have no need for multiple speeds.

Just as there were many carbuetors that were far from progress toward fuel injection. And many hand-crank window designs that were far from progress toward reliable power windows. And many drive-by-wire systems that were far from progress toward modern ECU systems.

What's the first rule of invention? To achieve success, one must fail.
