Hit and run

My wife found the car like this in the parking place in the front of the hotel (she was gone like 10 minutes)
The hotel security cameras didn't cover that angle (based on police)

I'm wondering if i8 records anything using the front camera? (Like Tesla does...)

That's too bad. Sadly the i8 doesn't record anything.

Sad state of affairs. I've installed the BMW Advance Eye 2.0, which has front and back cameras. It has a "park mode" that is activated by radar and/or g-sensor. I can highly recommend it, although perhaps for the future in your case.

See https://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/s....php?t=1741939

Although I've not used the camera in anger, the resolution I got from someone backing too close to me (although they didn't impact) was good enough to read the licence place.

One thing to consider is both cameras are quite visible - but that's what it is.

Lesson learned; I was considering these cameras before but I was too cheap...now with the insurance deductible and for sure future premium increase that would have been paid for

I still hope things go well - maybe another car in the carpark had an operational camera? Still sad seeing the damage - particularly as your car's colour and accents match mine. Hits close to home, as they say.

I decided to put a camera in both my M3 and i8 when I heard about someone vandalising cars in the "secure" carpark at work. As I drive both of these to work, I put cameras in them. What I like about the BMW camera is when it starts recording (in park mode) a little white light begins to flash, which hopefully provides a deterrent.

As it turns out, no one was caught and when the carpark got full with people returning to work, the vandalism stopped. Nevertheless, they are good dash cams even if the software app is a bit naff.

I'm considering this dash cam, but I'm not sure yet if there is a way to install somehow the rear camera on the i8 roadster:

Looks smaller than the one I have. I decided to go BMW as, I believe, this will improve the price of the i8. Don't know. My only advice, of course, is get it professionally installed. I "installed" the BlueSeaSky dash cam in my daughter's 2007 Jetta - wires everywhere. Of course, that sort of fits in with the sagging headliner.

Best luck and wishes - I hope your Christmas improves!

Are half of those parts actually required? Most of those listed seem to be untouched. Why wouldn't they just take them from the car?

I have no clue; they said they found "hidden" damage when they took the car apart
It seems the insurance just approved all the costs (and yes I know I will end up paying it over time

Come on, for that deformation in the hood there needed to be more damage to parts that did go back to the original position after impact or behind. There are not of lot of things to break in a car that expensive that are cheap. Sad but true. I would be happy it is fixed without a trace, and hope for whoever did that to be hit be lightning while taking a dump.

Does your bonnet/hood need slight adjustment?

It might just be the angle of the picture? It looks a bit too far back. It looked a bit different to my eyes, so I just went to look at mine. The wing edge and bonnet should align perfectly I think.

I'm sure it'll be a 10 minute adjustment. Looking like a nice job.
