Yeah. I read that. If she thinks she's a liberal, she needs meds.
No need to apologize. Hell, you merely stated your opinion, and you know that sayin about opinions. Where it becomes wrong is when insults come into play (not necessarily you), because then that insult merely states that I no longer have a rational argument to counter you, and I need to drag you down so that I can feel smarter. I may not like your opinion, but you have a legitimate right to it. Once again, don't apologize for what you believe in, just justify a little clearer. You're good. And it's always great to hear outside views of how we crazy Americans conduct business, because, even I, often do not understand it.

Why is the article poorly written?
It states trump has been wishy washy on legislation concerning guns.

Honestly, i stand my ground when the issue is one i need to defend, but in this, i have to admit my errors. On the politics side one poster mentioned Isis connection, i googled, and all the sources shown then were bad. My intention was good, i wanted to point out how outlets uses horrible things against us.

If we could in the politics thread have a reasonable talk about guns, that would be epic, but it should be done at a time when it is not as red hot topic as it is now.

First off, this is the kind of stuff that never needs to happen to innocent people. Things like this just make me sick. People are just trying to have a good time and some low life decides to ruin it. Then kill himself so he doesn't have to face reality. My thoughts are with everyone that had to go through this and those that will never see their families again.

To those wanting more strict gun laws...I do agree but that will NEVER stop things like this from ever happening. Why? Look at this way. There are a lot of drugs that are illegal but guess what? People still sell, use and make them in the US.

Its that fine line of what will work vs what won't. A weapon in anyone's hands will be deadly, whether they kill 1 person or hundreds.

It does sound like a form of automatic weapon (but can't be with the few rounds that were fired) or modded weapon to fire "full" auto but we will have to wait and see what information is released.

And yes, ISIS will ALWAYS declare they were responsible for any attack. That is the way all those groups work. A helicopter crashes at Ft Hood....they'll say they were behind it.

How did it lead to less people getting help for mental illnesses? Genuine question; I'm not that familiar with Obama's resolution. All I know is that we've been talking for a long time that mentally ill people should not be getting guns. That the problem wasn't the guns but the people. So Obama tried to implement a stopgap measure (resolution, as opposed to legislation) to tie mental health history to gun purchases. Was it perfect? No. Was it overbroad? Probably. But it was better than nothing, as a temporary measure.

Trump erased it, but never pushed for something better conceived. He's going to face this question now (as well as his pro-NRA stance during his campaign), which is going to temporarily push his tax reform bill to back-burner.

The problem is that Obama's resolution had nothing to do with people who were actually mentally ill. It targeted people who simply had a fiscal adviser assigned to them for help with managing social security benefits.

Hell, even the ACLU opposed it.

Worse so, he could have easily flown one of his planes into the venue. Either way, the guy flipped for whatever reason.

If you need a fiscal adviser because of psychiatric disability - I'm fine with that person not being able to own a gun.

Yes, let's give unilateral power to skip due process and infringe on the Bill of Rights to any activist .gov examiner. What could go wrong?

According to various people on CNN today America must learn lessons from this.

They must be very slow learners as I'm sure I've heard this before many times.

Nothing will change.

I wonder how much of this is monkey see monkey do. I mean it's not like the US just got guns yesterday. It feels as if though these mass shootings have become the "it" thing to do among the mentally unstable lately. I think its because of all the media coverage they get and how oversaturated people are with media these days.

I don't watch the news, ever. However I still find out about all this stuff because it pops up on facebook, twitter, my phone etc. Then you have all the bogus news clickbait crap claiming Obama kills puppies and Trump clubs baby seals and people believe this crap.
