Distance camera fogging up in cold weather

Our 2021 i3S has an issue with the cruise control distance camera in cold weather. It refuses to operate because the enclosed inside of the front windshield fogs up right in front of the camera. Is this a known issue?

The windshield defroster seems to clear mine up quickly on cold mornings.....

The heater in that area fails... my windshield was replaced in warranty because of this... about $1200 otherwise.

Is there a heater in the windshield?

I believe that there is, and it is turned on with the front defroster button.

Determining which button turns on the front versus rear defroster when they both have no wording and similar icons on their buttons may require a trip to the owner's manual.....

The left one is for the front, but I thought it was just setting the air flow from the heater in the direction of the windshield and turn up the speed of the fan. I have not seen any wiring in the windshild like there is in lots of Fords (it is very annoying when you see it).

It probably uses air for heating the glass, and a separate electric heater for the camera both controlled by the defrost button.

On other marque cars that I've owned over the years, the rear defroster button also turns on the heated mirrors.....

Never had it fog up, and we live in the same place.
I have had issues that it refuses to operate or disconnects in heavy rain or low head on sunlight quite a few times though.

No heater inside windscreen, its all just hot air.
