Remove Frozen Blue Accents

Whats up all, I'm picking up a white I8 and it has the frozen blue accents on the outside, this isn't an option I was looking for but the rest of the deal makes sense so ill go for it. My plan is to wrap them or replace the parts, any suggestions on were I can find the replacement trim or a complete kit??

Um. Your local BMW Parts counter. I suspect that the parts will not be inexpensive (but I've never asked).

Wrapping them will certainly be less expensive, and you can go with a tasteful mahogany woodgrain, or pink chrome, or desert camo. Or not.

I'ld like to vote for Desert Camo! Please post photos!

Possibly uninstalling them, taking them to a shop to get them painted. I've seen many I 8's with glossy black or different color accents. I'm actually looking into it as well here in Los Angeles.

Just because I was curious... Approx $1460 in parts. Plus Painting $$$.

Wait, why not just get them in the frozen grey, then no paint needed.

Because only the grill trim is available painted blue or gray. The others pieces are only available "primered". You've gotta have them painted. (in two colors... the blue/gray parts are NOT separate pieces, as far as I can tell)

I’m in a similar situation but I want to go from grey to blue accents, with wrapping wouldn’t they need to remove the rear bumper to get the trims done ?

Also in the regards to the side accents are these easy to remove or is this a big job ?

Can they just do a wrap without removing anything, I really don’t want to have the car taken apart just because of these accents, as far as the front grill I would be fine leaving it alone, it just seems in my area there are more cars available currently with the grey accents and I really want them blue.

I tried searching this board as well as the internet and can’t find much information out here.

No nothing needs removed to wrap those small accents. Easy. Probably cost you $300. Peanuts.

Wrapping is always less than PAINT. That's what the peanuts term meant. I've seen some amazing things done with wrapping. When you have the right guy/artist, anything can be wrapped and you can't tell.

i ended up getting it wrapped and they didn't take the car apart. I am extremely picky with my car and I am very happy with the results. Im not saying with a magnifying glass you can't find things, but any normal or even detailed viewing of the car it is flawless

Yep, a good artist can do it without removing for the accents.

I wrapped mine as well last year, its definitely do-able but pain in the a$$ for the front grills since I did only the inner insert (the blue ones) and the rear took time because of the angles.

for the rear I removed the last cover which the license plate mounts to, unplugged the reverse sensors and the camera, also removed the reverse lights, pretty straight forward and it needs to be removed to fully cover the accent on the inside and behind reverse light because you can see it from the side view.

I think painting is a good solution but I am not sure how someone would do it for the front grills without removing them, specially if they want to paint just the center colored area! Then also the rear bumper where the trim is part of the bumper because the trim color sort of blends in with your car paint.. I guess you would have to do some super smooth tape lines and curves!

I got all of my grey parts wrapped in gloss black. looks great and wasn't too expensive. I went to www.stickercity.com to get it done. They also did a full Xpel wrap and powder coated the rims gloss black. I highly recommend them!
