BMW Travel & Comfort System Base Support or Option 4FL required.
I have been thinking about the uses for the covered slots in the back of the front seats. I would like to add something like the BMW Coat Hanger
Part # 51952449251. Has anyone tried this on the iX? Is it compatible with those back of seat slots? |

I’m going to assume you did not search the forum first. I have posted pictures on previous threads. You don’t need the base system in this vehicle. Just need the accessory itself. If you have the hanger from a previous vehicle using the base system, then those will work just fine. I still use all the same accessories that I had on my M550.

Sorry to be harsh on the search statement, but it just seems to be happening a hell of a lot lately. Almost all of these newbie questions have been asked and answered multiple times.

Thanks for the help.
I found the prior link. Now I have another question. Where are the hangers made? Are the BMW ones or the off-brand ones all made in China or are some made in Germany or anywhere but China? |

I’ll go look tomorrow. They are high-quality wherever they’re made. I’ve had it and the hook for almost 5 years.

I just checked mine, and there's nothing anywhere on the parts themselves that indicates where they're manufactured. The manufacturer in the literature is listed as "BMW," so I assume either in Germany or by a BMW European contractor. As VirtualGuitars said, they're very high quality parts and I transferred mine from at least two generations of BMWs back, and they look new.

Thanks saving me a trip to the vehicle for a photo shoot…. I would certainly buy them again.

They certainly appear to be designed by the Germans - you push the inner button and the hanger disconnects so you can take it to your hotel room and hang it up with the hidden retractable hook. It's overbuilt by about 3x - everything about it says "Qualität."

I assume these are the official BMW ones, correct?

I've always been impressed by the German design logic, strange as it often is to us Yanks (hence long-time BMW owners). In the house we rented in our village of Kirschberg, in the foothills of the Eiffels, the windows on every floor were designed to fold completely in and out for cleaning in sort of an Origami-ish fashion - no need for ever going outside to clean them. At the same time, they had no screens. When I queried our landlord he replied, "Aber wie würden die Fliegen rauskommen?" (But how would the flies get out?). And you know, he had a point!

Not really contradictory. You can get good things at a good deal. Some would say getting $20k off a BMW is good deal. For what it does and what it's worth, it doesn't need to be engineered like a Swiss time piece. I want to know that it works properly and that it doesn't support a regime that seeks to overtake my country.

No, contradictory is - buy from Amazon, prefer not to buy from China. Those are virtually exclusive. Close to 75% of new sellers on Amazon are China-based, and almost 50% of sales are from Chinese merchants - all of the equivalent non-BMW products I found were made in China. As I said, politics aside....
