£1018 for me, not bad for 21yo with 3 years NCB, no accidents. MUCH better this year than last.

Ya think? Damn that's some history. You might have to wait a few years for it to drop off your insurance record.

That is pretty strange...considering I have geico.

I qualified for a lot of their discounts (multiline, multicar, 5 year safe driving, etc) and the only thing I can think of that's really affecting your quotes are those 3 claims of yours because the only difference between you and I- is I have 0 dings on my driving record. No claims, no accidents, 1 infraction when I was 23, but as mentioned, paid for traffic school so it never showed.

Give em another call because you should be somewhere between 1200-1400 a year.

edit*** my 640 doesn't include my other car which just came off the policy, but will soon be adding another daily driver

My neighbor owns a body shop and is getting lots of i3s and i8s. He says the windshields are very thin and very breakable. But he also says the body parts for them are surprisingly cheap and bolt on. So repair is cheaper than with metal-bodied BMWs.

Very counter intuitive.

My 2 BMWs and GMC truck cost me around $5,000 a year to insure. But I've got a 19 year old who drives the truck (mostly). And for 9 months of the year she is in Charlottesville, VA with the truck.

Like I mentioned- that's just the i8 alone. It was closer to 850 with a multi vehicle (x4, & Yaris) /home owner (almost 10 years) /safe driving (clean record).

Perhaps I just got lucky? But I've seen others get around the same quotes as I have.

Do you just add your car online using their website? Or do you call and talk to a real person for a quote? Not sure if that would make a difference...but never know.
Yup , I just rechecked my online quote....$1000/6mths ...that's just for the i8.
1850 for i8, 335 and x3. I'm the only driver, with same discounts as you it seems...
And I thought I was getting a good deal!!!!

I actually went into one of their branch offices the day I drove off with the i8 because I wanted to make sure I got the best deal possible/dealt with the branch manager while BMW dealt with verifying my employment since I'm technically self employed through various record labels.

Sometimes they don't know what a specific car is- for example when I had my m6, the person over the phone kept calling it a 6 series. It did drop a couple hundred bucks moving to the i8, and it helped that the branch manager knew the type of car it was (I think- I don't specialize in this. I just know when you're really interested in keeping costs low- it's always better to associate a face with it/relate to them a little so they can fight for you more so)

Just takes a little more time.

Two things not mentioned affect premiums. Credit ratings and amount of coverage. (When asked by my clients how much insurance they should carry -- there is only one correct answer: as much as you can afford.)

Even the BMW service line once sent me a technician for an 850i when I had called with a problem with my i8. So, anything is possible.

so went in to the local office in person.
kind of a joke. they basically just log on and quote online....was exactly the same as my online quote!
only thing they advised is i could adjust mileage / year on my cars. that got me down to 1600/6mth for 3 new cars (x3,335,i8).

better....but still nothing like what some of you guys are getting!

i ecountered the windshield cracking at first hand.... it started off as a tiny few millimeters chip.... by the next day, i noticed that it actually cracked and spread from the left side all the way to the center.... i was shocked...couldve been the heat that contributed to the cracking...but originally it was only a TINY chip....no cracks at first....

Was with Liberty Mutual and my rate went from about 3000/year for two older inexpensive cars to 6000/year when I added the i8. Orlando area, recent speeding ticket, wife with fender bender claim few years ago. I switched to Geico, 3600/year for all 3 cars, 10x the coverage.
