I got a <1 year old Siemens VersiCharge unit off eBay for $280, spent ~$60 at home depot for breakers/wire/box, and wired it in myself-- so ~$340 total for 240v, 32A charging.
I used 50A wiring and 40A breakers to future proof myself a bit, in case we end up with a car that needs more powerful charger or two EVs.

Before we got our i3 we had three firms come quote a new panel (100 to 200 amps) and putting in a 200 outlet with a juicebox. The lowest quote we got was $2500 and that firm waffled on pulling permits (I work with the City and don't like people cutting corners).
I was floored. We decided to give trickle charging a try. My commute is 10 miles and everything we need is en route. We find the 110 outlet is more than capable of keeping us topped off and we take advantage of level twos and threes if need be when we can. There's also a free level two near my office and it's great. So glad I didn't drop that $2500!!!

I recently bought a Pro JuiceBox 40. I'm waiting on the electrian's quote but it will not matter. Waiting up to 16 hours for a trickle charge is too long for me. Based on this thread $1000 for the electrican plus the approx. $600 spent on the JuiceBox will take my charging time from 16 to 3.5 to 4 hours.

I personally put in a JuiceBox 40amp model... I love it. Smart charger with app, slightly more power than needed for the i3 but this will not be my last EV despite being my first. Bought 75' of 6 guage wire needed to get through the home to the garage and in a couple of hours and $200 in parts it is up and running. I love it.
Load EVJuiceNet to monitor the kWh used, time of charge, charge times for cheap rates, etc. Brian '17 i3 rex

Hi, new to this Forum.
I got the juiceBox Pro 40 from Costco, my Electrician installed it for $300, parts and Labor. Parts used was some Conduit, and a 40 Amp Breaker. Oh, and I had to crawl under the House installing the Conduit. |
