God...Pens D suck ass. Guess I meant "you score 8, we'll try and score 9"

Nice the Pens got pushed around...didn't need that Reaves guy after all. Especially since we picked up this super hero Brassard. His powers, you ask? Invisible man.

^ It's a combo of who you get, certain guys getting hot (like the tender).

The NHL playoff season is long - teams that meet in the finals will play 20 plus games, that's another 25% of a season. Guys getting hot, injuries, etc.. All the stars have to align.

After 2009 it took the Pens 7 years to win another cup. A team like the Devils went to the finals and sandwiched that trip with horrible seasons. So many things have to go right to win the cup.

This playoff format sucks. They should go back to the old one.

In other news, the Flyers got smoked by Tampa & Florida in one weekend. Holy shit did their slow defense get exposed. I think every panthers goal was a breakaway....
Not like we don't have speedy young defensemen rotting away in the AHL or anything.

There are two things I don't like about the playoffs - 1) they take way too long - teams should have a game every other night - even if their series goes 7 games. and 2) hockey in general has little incentive to finish first, home ice get's you last change but besides being a better team - a higher seed doesn't have a big advantage (and don't even mention higher seeds are not always the team with more points).

I haven't thought this through but maybe hockey needs a format closer to the NFL with more divisions and a first round bye for top finishers.

Vasilevskiy was off his game - thats the only reason the flyers put up 6. They gave up two 2 goal leads and gave up numerous breakaways. It wasn't nearly as close as the score makes it out to be.
And the Bolts didnt even have McDonagh in the lineup yet.

Or they'll play Filp, Weise, Amac, Lehtera, Manning & Gudas the whole game against Crosby and Malkin and get torched.
I can honestly see either option happening.

It was just the Penguins taking advantage of the bad defensive pairs. Feel like Manning or Amac was on the ice for every penguins goal.

I turned it off at the end of the second. Played some xbox instead. Much less frustration that way.

Found it kind of hilarious that they put Kendricks in between the glass and not Kelce. NBC was probably afraid that Kelce would go on another rant again. Also Kendricks owned Millbury so that was the highlight of my night.

Lost another last night. Heartbreaker.

I'm a Flyers fan through and through but I think they got a little over inflated beating bad teams. They built up a lot of points playing against the Ottawa's and Montreal's of the league and then they get exposed against playoff caliber teams. Their second and third D-pairs are atrocious & they need bottom 6 scoring.
I know this year is a transition year and next year might be too. Need to bide time to get all the prospects up like Vorobyov, Frost, Sanheim, Myers, Hart & maybe even Sandstrom. Just need Hextall to jettison some of the worthless vets to make room for em all.

Shit...Cup is staying right where it's been. You guys are fooling yourselves if you think otherwise.

Take a look at the Tampa blowouts against the Pens this year. All three games, Pens were on the 2nd of a back to back, where Tampa was waiting for the Pens to come to them. Won't be the same come playoff time...

Nashville is better...but all west coast teams are slow compared to the east. And they're not any better picking up Carrie Underwood's couch potato husband in the last few days.

3 top 10 point getters in the NHL reside on 3 different lines for the Pens. No way anybody has enough D to hold all that back. Someone is scoring here...and God for it if you pull a penalty.

You may like other teams chances...but all of you are denying what you really know deep down.

Nobody has been able to touch them in 2 years...someone's got to get injured before I believe anything else.
