It was really boring, to be honest.
Not much there.
Racist Julia Roberts is kinda funny, but not sure she was meant to be.

I love and adore my wife and she's terrifyingly smart (four Masters degrees)..... but she *really* gets into Christmas.

And that means Christmas (i.e. Hallmark) movies...... oh God, the Christmas movies.

Hallmark..... Netflix..... whatever. They're all the same. No-name actors who couldn't act themselves out of a paper bag, *maybe* a washed-up third-string actor billed as a "big name" that might have five minutes of screen time. The plots are all identical.... painfully so. The locations are either magically perfect northeast/midwest/west coast towns that couldn't possibly exist or they're in the Kingdom of Buffonia or something goofy like that.

Often, there's the "you're a lowly baker, but are a dead ringer for the princess who wants to escape her life of luxury..... and you see where this is going.

And the worst part?

They make SEQUELS.

We spent a good part of a day this weekend wrapping presents, getting her work gifts sorted, decorating, etc. and she had to have Christmas movies on the entire time while we were doing it.

The horror. Literally-- two minutes in and you've already got the plot figured out, know that the plucky ingenue will get together with the gorgeous heir/inn manager/widow/architect and that the bad guy/girl (usually an ex-girlfriend) will get their comeuppance.

Yay, Christmas spirit.... but I'll trade watching a dozen of those for a single viewing of The Grinch.

Hell, I'll even trade for "Love, Actually" in a pinch.

She is referring to: GODZILLA Minus One. I have not seen it and will probably wait to watch it at home. But, the reviews are absolutely phenomenal!
The trailer I posted is the sequel to the: Kong vs Godzilla movie. Which is now becoming a franchise.

Tough thing, old dogs and new tricks. Saturday mornings were filled with Gozirah, Outer Limits. Didn't even watch many Westerns (until Clint)

I've been waiting on this ever since I learned it was rebooting 3 years ago. It's here! And the fact that they brought back so many of the original cast is Astonishing!!!

This.... this has gotten absolutely *fantastic* reviews.

It's NOT going to be a "Nicey-Happy-Lovey" movie, but as someone who've very interested in the history of the era, I'm very excited to see it.

Going to have to go solo though-- Wife a) doesn't like subtitles and b) this is NOT her type of movie-- especially during the holiday season!

This one looks very interesting as well-- coming out in late April 2024.

(and no, not trying to be remotely political here-- it's just an interesting concept how the Union could be dissolved.)
