Park distance control

My park distance control doesn’t activate until I am practically on top of a barrier. It activates way too late, to be very useful. My previous x5’s pdc was much better tuned. Is anyone else experiencing this?

The distance can be adjusted, but otherwise it depends on how high the barrier is - in my experience at least 5-6" high or more.

YES! I have posted about this! E V E R Y BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Tesla, Range Rover, Jaguar, etc... the PDC comes on fairly early when pulling into a spot or location with a pole, wall, another car, object, etc...

When in Reverse, PDC is fine since it activates automatically with the reversing camera. Pulling in, is a sh*tshow with the frontal PDC.

Our two iX, OMG....the front PDC basically does not come on unless you hit what ever is in front of you. I hope BMW is aware of this, and this can be adjusted with software. I'd love SOTA to fix this to avoid a long & hard to get service appt, but it seems only Tesla has been able to really get SOTA to work well and right.

Does sound like something that could be adjusted with a software tweak (assuming sensors are capable). And the iX does have quite a front overhang, so I can see some paint and plastic being left on the sidewalk without paying attention....

I've seen the same behavior on our X1 and Macan. One of the (few!) things I like about the Macan is that there's a button on the steering wheel that you can assign a custom action to. I configured it so it brings up the front and surround cameras, and it became a habit to hit it when I start parking. I think the iX has a camera button on the center console, but it's less convenient than on the steering wheel.

How do you adjust the distance threshold?

My bad - you were able to set distance activation in iD7 but it looks like most settings are automatic in iD8. There is something called "Drive off monitoring" in ID8, which seems to limit speed when it detects an obstacle in Drive at parking speeds, and applies braking in Reverse, but haven't tried it yet. Just activated it, so we shall see....

* Explanation, but no demo:
