Personally, having just been in a service area at BMW, I wouldn't want to be a SA for any car company. Customers think they are entitled to way more than you can promise, just because they bought a car. If you don't have a part in stock, you can't put it on their vehicle.
She said this after I answerd her questions and told her what do i need to do now to move foreward.

"Yes I will working on some backend things and will reach out to you tomorrow with next steps."
What does that mean? Yeah I worked as a assistant and lot attendant for the service advisors at BMW. I hope amazon is just as cool as being around cars.

This sounds like HR speak for yes we will hire you let me get with my hr people to get shit moving. Her only flaw was she should have replaced "reach out to you tomorrow" with "circle back with you tomorrow" but otherwise good HR bs talk.

I can't understand how you think you have a job offer from Amazon.

There is nothing here indicating that. You're just going through the application process and preliminary check lists along with gobs of other people at this stage.

And what do you have from the dealer indicating there is an offer on the table? You called and they said they'll call you back? That's not an offer.

It was a interview and they will pull up my application from Toyota because it is connected dealerships. Usually with face to face interviews I do really well so im confident I can get the position. Its just the shroud of mystery of covid and these dealerships. Some will get back to be and call me right away when it picks up pace because how slow business is for dealerships. But subaru said its very fast paced here.

OK, so no offer was made.

What is this "shroud of mystery of Covid"? What does it have to do with making someone a job offer? If they need it filled, and you're qualified and nailed the interview like you say...

Again, you do not have a job offer from either company as of yet, so your decision is pretty easy at this time as there is no decision to be made.

Okay then but if you had to pick, would you be a Amazon Bookstore person or a Car Service Advisor thats starting out?

I'd do car dealership - wouldn't do sales - but service department would be fun.

Do you think subaru will do good like toyota or honda in the longer run?

in the northeast and mountain zone Subaru probably does very well. I think their engines tend to have oil consumption issues so that is probably and issue you'll deal with.

Toyota and Honda probably do better. But just guessing.

Though I really like books and that atmosphere - maybe with Covid book sales are busting.

A few months back I sensed car sales and particularly service departments were dead.

Anyway, dealership or Amazon, working is actually fun and important for young guys.
Some people complain about Amazon work conditions particularly in their warehouses. But in conversation some really bright friends of mind lament and comment on an attitude that lots of younger work force age people feel they deserve easy jobs that they're entitled.

Hmm I think you are talking about my generation. I just turned 21. I work very hard and go school but had coworkers that were lazy fosho. Every interview i went to I aced it and made sure I showed them I work hard. Did you or them have any experiences with younger dudes not working hard enough?

How can any of our opinions help you in any way? Most of us have never worked at either place and I'm sure none of us have worked at both. It seems like a pointless question - you want us to figure out what is best for you to spend your day doing? First of all, there's no dilemma. You have some nebulous communications that are not solid job offers. Wait until you have a concrete job offer to decide on first. Second, figure out yourself so you can wind up doing work you actually like. Not one of us can help you in that regard.

Find a trades job if you want money and think you're a hard worker. Virtually any construction field will pay far better than customer service stuff, probably twice as much plus more hours than you'll ever want.

I don't work in construction but a lot of my friends do. They make good money, well hell a lot more than $15/hr.

One is a glazier, installs windows for high rises gets paid $45/hr.

One is a plumber. Started off at $25/hr then $70-100/hr as a journeyman depending on the job.

He's 21 years old, Mass Communication Major, seems like he might be 3rd year of college and taking a year off, probably wisely, because college campuses and instruction are in flux due to covid.

Complete the degree ! In the meantime Amazon or a dealership is better than just fine.

What school is it? USC?

34k per year for communication major? That is a horrible return on investment.
