At this point of July, I'm going to have to submit an update here, and also take this opportunity to publically admit defeat.
A month ago, my aunt decided she wants to throw a huge party, all relatives invited. She doesn't have the space, so she did what I too do the best, invaded mine. On August 3rd, all our blood relatives have been invited to a party that will be held in my house, you know, the house that's nowhere near completed! My yard looks like shit. My flag pole is more like a half done erection than a pole you haul a flag to. At the moment, the whole house is covered in dust and bits of bricks since we are building the stupid ovens still. I'm very glad she kept the invitations private, and not take a space in a newspaper or anything.... I'm not exactly kidding about the devastation and destruction around here. I had two weeks ago 700 bricks in my front lawn (or where lawn would go, if I had any), and about 800 kg of the fucking shit that had to be put in between those. The stoves are almost up now, but the whole house is a mess. Tomorrow, perhaps, the interior reno is done for two weeks. That's about how long it'll take me to clean this all up, and to prepare for an invasion. And an invasion it appears to be. At the moment 150 guests have informed the organizer that they'll be here. The organizer indeed took an add in our city paper. She will also make sure there will be a person reading poetry present. All I have to do is to make sure one of our toilets can be accessed with a wheelchair, food, location, drinks, I have to set up a space where people can watch photos and to provide a clerk who will write down who's in which photo. I'm also in charge of the booze and I'm also the transporter for the more disabled people. The youngest person there will be my youngest son, 7, the oldest as of today is only 98 years old. Since my grandma hated me, the only thing any of my relatives from that side knows about me is that I make a killer vegetable soup, topped with sour cream and bacon. I hired a catering company, and they told me they could never do my soup for so many people, so now I actually have to do that too. The two I tried to hire after I was fired as a client told me very kindly that : " we all have delt with your family members. They're horrible, they just are. We are not going to sink with this ship. Good luck". My great plan now is to make that stupid fucking soup that even toothless people can eat, I'm doing it gluten and lactose free. I'm going to serve two salads too, one meaty, one mostly stupidly green. Since gluten cant be served, I'm doing cheese cakes.. I know my mom's traumas that make her clean the drawers and socks for Christmas were caused by these people and now I'm stuck feeding them, in my house that looks like a hurricane has destroyed all clean surfaces on it for the last 20 days. Since I can, here are some pics of how bad this currently is ![]() That's my bedroom. I sat on my bed when I took that one. ![]() That's my livingroom. Yes. I have a garden gnome that wears no pants. I have two more fully operating bathrooms but somehow I feel like this July just keeps on going worse and worse direction. Tomorrow those two fire places will be finished. Then I have 9 days to clean this damn place up, and then I'll have to start cooking, and baking. Also, my aunt's dog is apparently dying, so I'm even more stuck with this party alone. I did paint the house, so the exterior is not a horror show anymore. Now I just have to handle the August 3rd and I can be drunk for all I care for the rest of the year! So all going as usual here. I apparently will be enjoying traditional Finnish poetry and music in a few days sober.

My dad owns a tree business and I recently removed some large bushes in my backyard. I subsequently asked him to come by to grind the stumps of all the bushes...so he came which was great until a rock the size of a cherry flew across my yard and shattered my sliding glass door that leads into my house on my deck. What an effing nightmare.
He was a good 50 feet away and that out of there like a bullet. Spent two hours in the boiling sun cleaning a billion shards of glass all over my deck and now obviously I need to replace the door. Blah

Oh, it's going well then? You forgot the duck though. Poultryphile.
Seriously though, hope things start coming together...you'll pull it off one way or another, but it may not be how you envisioned. If it looks bad come party day, spike the punch. By that I mean like 75% vodka, 25% punch. After one or two drinks, no one will care and everyone will either be happy or going to the forest to see which one can chop down the biggest tree.

![]() ![]() 14 days, 14 hours per day but they're done. The chimneys also have been resurfaced internally during this period. I've cut and hauled around 2500 kilos of bricks. 500 kilos of fire bricks. And I've mixed and taken to the site 750 kilos of the shit that went in between the bricks, and all those old tiles. The bricks and the shit that goes between them cost me 1300 euros. The historic finishing tiles cost me 400 euros (got the brown one for free since the man who stole it in the 50's had died 40 years ago, and his only living relative didn't know it's worth and just wanted to give it to a history fan and the other one cost me the labour the man who took it down in the 70's spent on taking it down and boxing it up because he wanted to give a piece of my family history back to a person who will value it). Labour cost was meals (230 euros not that I was counting.). Chimney work 600 euros. One of those built is worth 8k in a house. Two of them in a house is stupidity.

I like lying. It goes well with my black heart. The next step is the sauna area of the house. That means a bathroom, sauna, shower space, and a gold fish pool inside the house, and an outdoor pool for the fishes for summertime with a hot tub with a twist for the kids. No clue how I'll pull or rather pool it off, but I like the idea of heating water for Christmas bath outside of the house, on ground level while the fish can use it during the summer for sunbathing. The sauna will be indoors (we have one outside too) but I'd like to have a sauna, a traditional made from recycled materials such as the stove and the rocks I've gathered over the years as a center piece. No bath tub, one shower, a weird bathroom and then 70 m2 living space connected to it as a relaxing hanging out space. That's a holiday, easy to do and so fucking fast... ![]()

![]() The one in the livingroom is still under construction and the picture is bad but it's my favourite place to be around. It's massive. It completely dominates the space. Originally it was just 10 ft tall, but even as in this version, and just 8 ft and some tall, it blows my mind. The white one used to be in the ball room of the original estate home of our family. The brown one was a heating fixture in a study, in a mansion. I love them both, I love their history and how I got them. The brown one is just screaming at me that i don't deserve him, after all, I did make the call for it to be less of what he is.
