Sill and leather protection?
Hi all,
What's the best way to protect the: A) Leather seats? B) The leather side of dash when you swing your legs in that gets marked (where the A pillar meets the dashboard) C) The sill with the BMW i8 logo? D) Paint protection from stone chips - film? I've heard of films and things applied etc, but wasn't quite sure what the best would be. Based in Yorkshire, UK if there are any recommendations locally if professional fitment needed, or online products that I can buy myself. Cheers! |

I’m in East Yorkshire!
Look at my post for protecting the sills, I wrapped with clear film but lots of options. You can get a clear bra of PPF film like Suntek for the bumper but might be worth paying for a professional job. I’ve had bumpers done on other cars but haven’t bothered this time as not cheap! Got to get the laser cut template for the right fit. Some of the better 9H ceramic treatments might help but nothing as good as the PPF. For the seats, I tend to have a cover on the base to prevent wear. Can’t do much about the end of dash I think? |

I checked out these guys on the weekend - a few minutes from my work!
https://www.atdautomotive.co.uk Very classy place, and when I visited they had in a white I8, a 720s, a F355 and a Huracan getting detailed - people seem to know they're there! He said that PPF wouldn't work on the sills as the texture would mean it would move about - have you found this? For this I've been quoted £530 for exterior detail/paint correction, £550 for ceramic coating inc wheels, and £1500-£1800 for front/extended front PPF protection. All ex VAT I believe. so £3,300 for the full package. A lot to spend! |

I went to a wrap shop in Exeter about covering the sills but again, they said that you couldn’t because of the texture. Interesting that others have succeeded?

I did mine myself, not quite perfect but you really have to go looking. And it sticks perfectly well! Experts huh? Pah!
