i8 launch control in 4.1 sec with Video
Hey Guys,
I took a video for you. It shows a completely OEM i8 that makes the 0-62 run in 4.1 sec. I never imagined that this car would react - under real world conditions - so much better than on the paper. Awesome to drive |

Some publications have reported 3.6s 0-60 with LC.

Without LC, the i8's best time was 4.3 sec. to 60 mph. For my own comparison sake, my CL 63 AMG ran 4.6 sec. and wife's 650i GC ran 4.8 sec. on the same strip with original stock tires, albeit on different days and with different temps. Seems the i8 had the best traction off the line when compared to the two larger vehicles.

Cool, so the question is, is this an official launch mode.
It seems you just put in in sport, press brake and gas, then let of brake. that's it? There no button to press to get into the mode>? |

Assume because 1st and 2nd are quite close ratios and it's the way to get the fastest 0-60?

Haha the 1-2 LC shift is one of the things I love about the car. I do LC all day in this thing.

Not me! So much smoother in my NSX (and more brutal). It sounds like it's breaking to me. And it's strange for the i8 because everything the i8 does is smooth and polite.

The NSX is obviously much more performance oriented. The two cars aren't even remotely in the same league. I do like the i8 a lot for daily driving and I don't look at it as a performance car whatsoever. It's novel and unique and fun (at legal speeds).

Having both, i8 is better for daily. NSX is a legit super car. It's so fast and capable. Interior storage is an absolute joke. Cockpit is much less airy and open. I'm not sure if I could daily it, you may feel different.

I have been looking at the NSX and last weekend I saw one at the Acura booth at a car show so my wife and I hopped in to check it out. I nearly fell into it and I must say that in spite of the ingress/egress criticism the i8 gets I find it easier to get in and out of than the NSX. I am 6' tall with a long torso but I still felt like I was sitting too low in the NSX and I couldn't see a way to raise the seat. My wife is only 5' 2" and she didn't like the seating position at all - much more closed in as mentioned above. I am way more comfortable in the i8 and though it is not a daily driver, I use it all the time for shopping and errands so I would really miss the back seat storage space. I don't mind giving up some performance for comfort and usability. Besides, when we got out of the NSX my wife told me not to even think of giving up the i8 so that settled that.
