Does anyone have any information on whether the display key will be available to current 2014 i8 owners if and when it is produced?

Key/comfort access

While the key was/is a disappointment, what about Comfort Access on US cars

The i8 does seem like a cool ship of some sort. Sadly, it does not perform as amazingly as I wanted it (according to reviews). And yeah, that key's HUGE.
I'm sorry, but I truly hope you do not share your displeasure for performance with anyone else, nor how you derived your opinion... Simply due to it being incredibly narrow minded, as well as the fact it completely misses the purpose for which this car was intended. It is a technological masterpiece, and performs unbelievably well. Consider what BMW was able to achieve using only a TwinTurbo 1.5l, inline 3 engine combined with the electric drivetrain, creating 357HP, and more importantly 420lb-ft of torque! All while returning 76 miles per gallon and a 0-60 in 4.4.
I mean I really do not know how much greater a culmination of performance and efficiency you could possibly ask for? We all know BMW has more powerful drivetrains by which they could have used for this vehicle. Though again, that was not the purpose for which this project was intended.
So I just can not fathom how one could deduce that this vehicle under performs by any measure?

Oh, and it's not too bad on the eyes either (subjectively)

Sadly not available. Nor is AM radio.

I bought my i8 for exactly that reason. I wanted to live the future now. But when I was a kid, reading Popular Mechanics, the future of the automobile was autonomous and airborne.

So while this is the future, it's not what others imagined it would be in the 1950s.

Not until they're approved for US use. The car they gave him had LEDs.

I heard from my service manager they were installed instead of in the box but who knows these days.

I have it on Good Authority that the Pebble Beach car had the laser lights installed and the iPhone App key when it was sold to the lucky bidder. I can't, however, reveal my source, but it is impeccable.

(I forgot to ask if it also has the Comfort Access which is available in Europe. It definitely didn't have AM radio capability.)

AM radio is due to interference with electrical systems.
