There are a few i8 available on for lease assumption on http://www.swapalease.com/lease/BMW/i8/search.aspx. Are these typically the monthly lease payments on an i8?

Those are terrible deals- they probably got them at msrp or above.

You can find a new lease for under invoice in just about any west coast dealership. I was recently quoted 1700 a month 36months on an i8 under invoice (129)
