Now if I do decide to have an i8 as my only car, I guess I would have to use it for relatively simple errands. e.g. going to the bank, picking up take out, etc. Just how much attention does the car bring? If you go somewhere for 15 minutes and go back to your car, would there usually be people by your car or is there normally no one around?

I wouldn't mind taking some time to answer questions and have a little chit chat with people if I have the time, but there would be occasions when I would just be in a hurry and would have no time for that. Are most people understanding when you have no time or do people get upset?
Upset? Really? Do you really care? Can't you just say "thanks" with a smile and go? That's what I usually do. I don't particularly enjoy talking to tire kickers and I-was-there picture takers.

Seriously, if you are unsure about receiving attention, the car is probably not for you. You don't have to be an attention seeker, but you're not going to go unnoticed.

I use the i8 as my daily driver, and it's awesome. But the constraints on luggage space are real. So suitcases and groceries can be an issue. Thankfully, my wife has a Volvo V70 T6 for those occasions.

I've daily driven it for the last 3 weeks. I agree the biggest drawback is the attention it receives, but ultimately f*!k 'em, it's a great car!

Just received my blue i8 (with pure impulse world package) last week. This car is amazing. Will post pictures after I have the ability to post (user level rights). I basically cause traffic to stop wherever I go…only downside is that I'm afraid to park it too close to other cars. Have limited my driving to only places I know I can control (places with valet parking, high-end shopping malls, etc.). It's more of an attention grabber than my Tesla P85D or my Bentley Continental.

Mine will NOT be valet parked - ever. Way too concerned it'll be taken for a ride past shady night clubs, used for 1000 ridiculous selfies, acceleration-tested ... I mean, if you were a valet driver, could you resist?

Aye-eight, is the following video link what you're referring to?

I would cringe at the very thought of having my i8 valet parked.

One thing the Tesla Roadster has which I love (and wish other cars had) is a valet mode with a passcode. When you turn it on it:

1) Limits the power,

2) Displays it is in valet mode, and

3) logs and shows the distance driven and number of times.

Its all about discouragement. Mind you I still wouldn't valet park that car or the i8!

Trunk space is tight for only car.

Agree. But only car and daily driver are different things. I use the i8 daily (and that usually means not a lot of luggage), but it's not my only car.

In fact, I'd say: if you want to daily-drive the i8, it should NOT be your only car.

Indeed.

Having the 328d as a back-up is my individual formula.
