I've had quite a few experiences with Mclarens and not seen any of these issues.

Not seen any of that, or even heard anyone complain of it on McLaren owners group. But agree build quality is not up to BMW/volume car standards. It's about Ferrari level, not up to Lambo quality control.

No idea what "won't do easter eggs" means though.

I’m assuming the 720s is like the Tesla model S and has hidden Easter eggs, meaning litttle neat features that don’t really do anything functional, but just for fun. Also, big YouTube channel named Salomondrin who owns a ton of supercars returned his 720s for numerous quality issues with less than 2,000 miles on his, also

No easter eggs I know of. It's not a gadget like a Tesla

I heard about that youtuber, but I try my best to ignore tubers Anyway if you want build quality, the i8 easily beats it IMO.

Cool I took some pics in my garage

Garage took 4-5 months to rebuild after flood damage in February. Finally ready, so I took some pics in it

Wow that looks so damn good! I love all the carbon options you've ticked. Detail shop really did a great job as well. Are you through the break in period?

Not sure what I'm more envious of: the car or the garage . Both are beautiful.

Vance, yes, I call it Trump Orange...the most Presidential colour....the best colour....the biggest

Jo-Sta, yes despite trying really hard to hold back I could not resist many of the carbon options, especially the MSO bits. They work so well though

It's not run in yet, mostly because I've been too busy last few days. But that didn't stop me tracking it at 300 miles (easy on the power though).

btw Euro spec cars are also lighter I understand.

Yes they are, except Mclarens seem to make it over here very light somehow. I've seen a 720S weighed at 3050 pounds in Jersey. Also, we don't have to have those awful front license plates so it's a trade off really

No plate here either

Many supercars and hypercars go without front plates here.

My i8 did too, until I had too many i8 event trips in Europe and got annoyed continually removing/replacing the plate. So the i8 has a front one now But its a sticker, so about 5 grammes

Have you driven the 720 in the rain yet? If so how is it. I drove my Camaro ZL1 to Philly from Pittsburgh yesterday (about 300 miles) and it rained heavily. Absolutely terrifying. No traction thanks to Rwd and aggressive tires.

Yes, and also in light snow. Utterly terrifying, and I nearly crashed the (demo) car in the snow, on P Zeros. Admittedly, it was impossible to get any temperature into the tyres, AND I was in full track/track mode but the rear went at 70mph on the motorway whilst overtaking. Luckily I caught it, due to my Lotus experience I am sure. Tyre temperatures were still warning they were cold even at the end of my test drive in the snow

On my own car I opted for the Corsa tyres, they will be even worse in the wet or cold. But I plan on driving it mostly in good weather so it's not an issue. It was simply brathtaking on track though, in the dry.

Of course, you can drive it with safety features enabled and use moderate throttle in poor conditions

Post Factory visit

I visited McLaren HQ yesterday at Woking, and took my young son.

Truly fantastic day.

The factory however was quite different to Leipzig, which is more advanced and automated. Not one single robot anywhere for example, whereas Leipzig is full of them. But it was clinically clean and also quiet, due to also using carbon construction.

Leipzig is more technologically advanced by far though.

I was so impressed by the personal treatment we received from McLaren. It is no exaggeration to say we were treated like family. They made me feel like I was their only customer, so warm was their welcome.

None other than Amanda McLaren's husband, Stephen, welcomed us - and then spent an hour chatting, listening and answering questions. When I say listening, I mean genuinely listening to my comments. To the extent that after our tour I found he had already acted on them and a manager was waiting for me when I left to follow up.

Not only that, but Stephen already knew of most of my thoughts because his colleague at Goodwood Festival of Speed had chatted to me there 3 weeks ago and had fed back to him!

To say I was impressed would be an understatement.

11/10 for McLaren.

I have the same floor in my garage, but great idea with the mirrors!!! I may have to do that. Are those closets? Or just mirrors?

Also, is your floor tile?

The floor is a solid resin. The tile effect is just a pattern. There are no gaps or grout involved.

The mirrors are doors, for the wardrobes behind.

Cool Basic physics

Very watchable video, and really amazing how much of it is equally applicable to the i8

Talking Learning to drive

I took my son for his first ever driving lesson today.

He was expecting a Skoda & got a shock.

It was a very short drive, but he will certainly never forget his first ever driving experience and car.
