Exhaust Advice
Hey M Family,
Finally thinking of doing some work to my car finally the temptations are getting to me lol. I have been thinking on getting an exhaust for my e92 2103 M3. Please share your suggestions with me on which exhaust are your favorite? I have a couple options in mind but just not sure which route to go with. I have thought of the meisterchief GT2, Remus, Akrapovic, and several others. Please let me know what you guys think |

depends. do you live in a duplex with your neighbor's bedroom window near your driveway? do you leave for work at 5am?
do you live on a 5 acre farm and enjoy loud noises? lol

Exhausts are a personal choice you can’t come here and ask a bunch of d bags which is best cause you need to live with it not us...
Try and find people that live near you and listen and go for ride and pick for yourself... If you want an opinion from a d bag on the internet ... get the Akra .... But you have a range of crazy loud to nice ....

Yeah... how much louder are you looking to go? I had the MPE on my old '13 M3 and loved it but I was looking for something a little louder but civilized. If you're going catless, the MPE has too much rasp, IMO.

Keep in mind if you go test pipes, you will also need a tune. |

My first exhaust was the acm mod and i loved it because it retained the stock look, no drone, and it wasn't over the top loud.
Then I added the macht schnell x-pipe with the acm and it was ridiculously loud(video link below). It was fun for awhile but the smell from the xpipe was unbearable as the smell will linger in your interior and on your clothe. So if you decide to go catless I highly suggest getting a valved muffler just so that your neighbors dont have a second alarm clock. https://www.instagram.com/p/B5AjGauj..._web_copy_link Now I'm running oem xpipe with akraprovic slip on, it has a deep bass during start up but almost as quiet as stock when you're driving. If you prefer something loud don't go with my setup.

Where in NJ are you?
I just cut open the stock can on my buddies E90 and did the 4 pipe mod. Sounds fantastic. If you're local enough maybe we can meet up. I also understand if you want a real system on the back but don't say no until you've heard it. It will also save you quite a bit of coin. |

MPE seems to be a favorite on here from what I have read followed by corsa. I personally love the way MPE tips and mufflers look. corsa seems to hang a little too low with small tips. another good looking muffler is eissenman. very similar design to MPE !

At idle the Dinan with Gintani was nearly the same volume as my MPE. Revs sounded hollow and louder and the similarity was surprising. Interior was perfect. |

I have the Active Autowerke rear section that came on my car when I bought it. It wasn't the sound I was looking for at first. But I gotta say it's grown on me. I'd definitely recommend looking into it. And it looks amazing on top of it all. Surprised this system isn't mentioned more often

I have the corsa paired to the AA Sig catless x-pipe and it sounds lovely. That first breath at start up makes me gitty. Cold start cycle is fairly loud because there's no cats (with full factory x-pipe, the corsa is only slightly louder than stock). Loud for condos but I live in farm country so it's just right lol. Volume wise, the corsa (rear only) doesn't seem to add much volume, it just changes the tone. When you take the cats off, that's when you wake it (and the neighbors) up.
When you come to a stop (ie: idling at a stop light) the super low frequencies emit loud enough to not annoy the person next to you but, let him know there's something special. At (slightly above) 3k rpm, mid throttle, the corsa emits a refined higher pitch exotic sound. I had more drone with the factory muffler/catless then with the corsa/catless. If you're near west-central NJ, come out from a cruise sometime..
