Podium finish for Doran Racing 128i Conti ST Barber MP

It was a tough fought weekend once again in the Continental Tire Series Round #3 at Barber Motorsports Park. The Office Depot / Intersil / BMWpartStore.com #14 started 19th after fighting transmission troubles the night before qualifying. Tim Bell once again was behind the wheel at the start of the race...and again picking his way up to 9th place by the 55 minute mark.
BJ Zacharias took over during a timely full course caution. The remaining 90 minutes was anything but easy. Battles raged in the class throughout the field. The car sat P6 with 30 minutes to go and after a good restart climbed to 2nd with minutes to go.
The #14 car ran bumper to bumper with the leader and passed him on the outside of turn 5 ...but the KIA driver played rough deciding to play enforcer.

The Doran Racing team was able to hang on and finish with its first podium of the year and the first podium in for the 1 series.
Hats off to the crew for pulling a super late nighter.... and getting the car ready for battle.
Special thanks to Office Depot / Intersil and BMWpartStore.com

Congrats! Here's Daytona Pic of You I took

Didn't see a Superwinch decal for contingency program. My brother is their marketing rep. Maybe you can find some skirt real estate for one. Keep up the hard charge in ST!

Hey BJ - nice race!! I just finished watching the SPEED broadcast on my DVR. Thanks for that in-car video. SPEED were pretty much ignoring the ST class during the last half hour and did not mention Nik Jonsson throwing that elbow.

Let us now recall that Jonsson punted Sarah Catanneo's MINI at last year's Barber race, so it's high time we crown him "Racetrack Enemy #1" for BMW/Mini fans!

Anyway, congratulations to you and the entire Doran Racing team. Hope we see you on the top step next time out.

Good luck in ST, the 128i's look great!

Let Grand-Am know they lost supporters of the series when they gave a rev-limit to the M3's (8,250).

There is no doubt they did that for Ford, who has been marketing their Boss 302 quite a lot.

Turner and Fall-Line should just shove it in Grand-Am's face and run the 4.4L GTS engine.

They lost a lot of supporters? The racing should be good, clean, FAIR racing. It certainly was not fair with the M3's revving that high.

Do you have any idea the kind of numbers those M3's put out with air inlet restrictors....You would be SHOCKED!

Its fair that the Boss 302 has more displacement?

The M3's are already down a full liter.

The lap times prior to the competition adjustment were very close. The Mustangs just needed to put a clean race together.

You can't have the cars sitting at the dealership revving higher than the race cars. It is a joke.

It is fair for the boss 302 to have more displacement, thats how cars equal out. With that being said I do agree the lap times were close before the adjustment, but the M3 had a definite advantage. I think Grand-Am might have taken a little to much away from the M3, you win some you lose some.

I want to see real racing, not which BMW will win this week.
