Contrary to the official BMW press release in December, when the coupe and roadster were officially premiered, the Display Key is not standard for the 2019 i8 in the U.S. I know this because my 2019 Coupe, which I picked up two weeks ago, did not come with one. Apparantly that point in the press release was for non-US markets only. I've asked someone from BMWNA to look into this, as I consider it somewhat false advertising, even though the list of standard features on the car's Monroney sticker does not include the Display Key.
I think we all know that it is really not that practical and offers little additional functionality over the BMW Connected app, but the cool factor does make it desirable as an accessory for certain occasions, so I'm still hoping to get one (for free ) |
