I downloaded Top Gear from Finalgear but it's some weird format :S - need help

I downloaded this one:
"1080i HD TS rip: http://flux.armed.us/?hash=FC8B8F070...E386E41ACFCB16"

from here - http://www.finalgear.com/shows/topgear/15/3/

Why can't my comp recognize the file?

This is what I'm seeing:

Thanks

The .S15E03 means Season 15 Episode 3, which is not the format of the file. The file could be a .avi or .mov or even an .iso or .img.

Herp Derp, I'm not an idiot.

I'm trying to figure out why it is not recognizable by my computer.

If it was an .avi, .mov, .iso, or .img it would be recognizable.

I wonder if adding any of those extensions will fix this problem, I doubt it, but I'll try.

If the file extension is wrong, your computer won't recognize it.

Post your results. Oh, and I've downloaded files that had a .mkv file extension before. The only way I could get those to play was to download and install the k-lite codec pack.

You need to find the .TS codec.

That Qweas website claims VLC will play TS files, but it definitely doesn't.

Can't find where to download this codec for VLC...

Hmm I never tried but yea they claim it will play it - I've never run into a file extension that VLC won't play.

How hard is it to just find the episodes in .avi?

The standard def version is in .avi and the 720p is a .mkv

The only way to see the 1080i version is this .ts file extension. I just download 720 since it's half the size and plays on my Mac.

Is that for the latest season only? I am positive I had downloaded .avis in 1080 for past seasons - then my computer crashed and I lost everything

Now I know the importance of backing up
