WTF Facebook?

Got this message this morning regarding my account I usually don't have social media that's the only thing I have is the forums and Facebook just to look up people are doing. question is now why would Facebook want a required of a picture ID to have account...

I wonder who's behind all this stuff huh? Big brother ???

I wouldn't be giving over any photo id, especially given their track record.

They are not looking for a photo ID - just a photo to be associated with the account. You could even use this.

This gives them nearly unrefutable verification of who you are and can use the photo for all kinds of profiling and cross matching as well as work with law enforcement and intelligence agencies to provide this info. Think for a second how your “free account” is paid for and you will see how and why they want you to willingly provide it.

so if I upload my photo will their algorithm scan and detect my receding hairline and start bombing my FB page with ads for wigs, toupees, Rogain, and that fake spray on hair in a can? Just another reason I have never had a FB account!

Not gonna lie, yes.
But after you hide them for about 6 months they stop.
My joy now is screwing with the system and seeing what kind of weird shit it'll push on me.

Agreed. Any self-respecting woman doesn't need to post selfies on facebook, they already know their self worth. No offense to anyone with this comment but usually these selfies are commented underneath with requests of sending bobs and vegina.

Yup, the instant validation of dating sites and Facebook has ruined a lot of people. Must suck not being able to go through life without people constantly telling you how great you are.

Then when someone like you or I come along with self respect it's like a big slap in the face to them. Confident people are automatically assumed to be douches.

Exactly! Big difference between those who are actually douches and people who simply have integrity and self esteem. It took me a while to realize that people who try to steel your thunder only want to steel it because they don't have any.

I've actually found this to be a huge issue in the workplace. I've been targeted by others because I do my job well and have a good relationship with pretty much everyone I work with. People are threatened by that.

Could not agree more! I've lost jobs and been turned down for jobs due to intimidating people. I deal with it in my current job as well. During conversations with my current boss, I'm always asking where we are at with the status of projects and how far along his maintenance employees are with completion so I know how to plan my next steps. It's as if I'm his boss and he just signs my time sheet. Due to this, I get left in the dark a lot just so he can keep some level of relevance in his position. In this day and age mediocrity is celebrated and rewarded and those who excel walk around with a bulls-eye on their back.

So I'm not thread-jacking, although I think it's already too late, Facebook is terrible.
