"Seen"

Why do so many people say "seen" when the correct word is "saw?" WTF?

The reason is that threre is a lot of "redneck trash" around here. I think I'm legally allowed to voice an opinion on the topic since I grew up on a grain farm here in south-central Illinois...

I've certainly come into contact with some interesting folks in (and around) the area I grew up. What's worse is when they are 45+ and they are saying shit like that.

Just a lot of white trash parents influencing their white trash kids.

Right. I'm in Chicago too... and I was shocked when I first noticed one of the ladies at work spewing such grotesque crap from her mouth. No less in a professional environment. "I seen the report from Sally." WTF

More than a few people around here are educated and know that it is "I saw that"... but choose to say "I seen that" .... for whatever reason.

They probably said "I've seen that" but the "'ve" can be silent so sometimes you can't tell that they've said it. "I seen that" is not correct. It's either "I've seen that" or "I saw that".

What about "I have seen that before".

Past participle FTW.
