Lets start this off by saying I'm an atheist who believes in some sort of after life. So I guess I'm a non religious secular person.

So I had to wake up early this morning to drive my Dad somewhere (no big deal, i could only sleep 3 hours anyways... couldn't get to sleep for some reason). So, I woke up at 5:45 and went downstairs. My cat sleeps in the downstairs bathroom so I opened the door to let him out. He usually walks/runs right out of there (smells like shit no surprise), but this morning he just looked at me and I had to get him to walk out after a minute.

Didn't phase me. So I go to my toaster and throw in a toaster strudel. I go back upstairs to wake my dad up because we're supposed to leave in 15 minutes. I hear a semi loud noise downstairs like my cat knocked something over, and he hauls ass scared shitless upstairs into my parents room. Or I figured the toaster popped and it startled him. (cats black btw if that matters?)

So of course I just assumed that, because cats are clumsy bastards. So I go back downstairs to my kitchen to get my strudel to see if the toasters still down, and it is. So I hear this funny noise coming from what seems to be the wall to my backyard, and it appears to be coming from an outlet with no plugs in it. Sort of a click- Then I notice about 5 feet away above my TV on the entertainment unit next to the COX cable box, my Blu Ray is on. (Apparently its been on sleep or pause or whatever for a few days according to my Dad). So it sounds like its overheating and I can hear that its playing- So I look at the time code on it and its at 2:52:xx and counting.

So I look at the cable box time next to it and its 5:52am. Which means that the blu ray woke up and started playing at EXACTLY 3am.

Now I'm no expert, but I know that's the demonic witching hour.

and in paranormal activity thats how they started getting fucked with was little stuff like the keys and stuff. I know its a movie but still thats apparently how that shit goes down.

Probably had a small brown-out or power fail at 3am and the mini-lapse in power caused your bluray to restart and start playing since it was already in sleep mode....

...Either way, I suggest you call Ghostbusters.

you're allowing yourself to be WAY too easily played with mentally.... re-read this a couple times to make sure I didn't miss anything.... but basically the moral to your story is that the blu ray player did something weird at EXACTLY 3....

coincidences do happen...but more often than not the coincidences happen because, subconsciously, your mind ALLOWS these events to 'click'. Essentially coincidence because you want it to be a coincidence.

maybe the cat hit it and made it make some noise? Or maybe the increased cat behavior made you even more aware?

Sorta like the first time you spend a night alone in your house when you're growing up... your house makes all kinda weird noises, but when you start to focus on it, it all adds up and you start to freak the fuck out

You sure you didn't accidentally have like an automatic power on time set on your blu-ray? I had that happen to me once with my tv for some reason it would just turn on at 3:30, but I swear I never set it. I dug through the menu screen and sure enough it was set to "on". Ha.

You're tripping yourself out, bro. I bet a lot of factors played into why you freaked yourself out including your lack of sleep, cat breaking routine, sense of urgency (taking dad out in 15 mins), etc. Also, the blu-ray may have been on already and you didn't notice while downstairs the 1st time. The cat did something weird, you were tired/hungry and wanted to check up on your dad; then when you came downstairs the 2nd time, you were on alert trying to locate something out of the ordinary, so you found the blu-ray player.

Until this ish starts to happen to you on multiple occasions in a short time frame, just forget about it. Unless you wanna pull a Paranormal Activity and start provoking said spirit.
