Boot / Trunk not closing in low temperatures?
Has anyone had it where the boot won't click/close fully at low temperatures of around 0/-1 degrees? This week I was unable to close my boot fully - it would do the first click to engage but I was unable to close it fully to the second click - so I was driving around with the boot open message on the screen. Once warmed up I managed to close it without issue.
Should it work if it goes below freezing? Kind of a problem if it doesn't! Unsure if it's just mine or a common issue? Also had it where the boot won't open at all at low temperatures as the spring/plastic barrel in the boot pin freezes and gets stuck and doesn't release! |

Short answer, no, didn't have the issue and no, this is not normal and shouldn't happen. Maybe moisture trapped somewhere in the mechanism? Car parked in the open somewhere?

I've had to stretch the spring on mine to get the boot to pop up enough for my fingers.
Yours may just need a bit of grease. Its just a simple plunger with a spring inside held on by a couple of screws. Make sure its not come loose and add some lub maybe? |

Thanks. It's not the plunger I believe - I think it's the electronic claw that's not fully engaging at cold temps. It clicks to first level but not the second level so it's in enough to hold it but not in enough for the car to be happy!
