Red face Updated software, worse cold behavior

Hi all.

So I finally goy my software updated. The shop did it once, with no effect. Then when I found the battery logo not having changed I asked them to double check the update.
They did it again and now the battery symbol is the "triple" battery.

There's some minor improvements in some small details.

However my car allso started acting a bit up. But I dont know if it just coinsided with the weather change.

Now when I run it in Max-e mode, it will when cold go to petrol @ around 82km/h where I before could run to 120km/h. Temperature here is around 1 to 4deg Celcius.

Before the upgrade (original 2014 software never updated) this did not happen. Just wondering if it is the colder weather or the software.

It seems If I use the pre-heat it's slightly better and after driving for 10km it will do 100km/h without kicking to petrol.

It's a bit annoying as it is one of my great pleasures to run my to/fro work completely without the petrol firing up.

and no I did not RTFM.

Have you tried warming the engine before attempting a Max e-Drive run to 120Kph?

If the software is worried about a cold ICE suddenly starting up at high speed/RPM, then maybe a warm up first will change the behviour?

Not noticed it myself but I usually run with the gas engine at higher speeds (when traffic lets me get above about 20Kph!)

It will go to 100 and later 120 if It gets time to heat up. But I'll go thru over half the battery before it gets there

I checked it out yesterday. Same conditions - same behaviour...

Updated 2014 i8, temperatures around 2-4°C, charging level 40-50%.

Drove in Max edrive when combustion engine fired up at about 80-85km/h.

Display said "Too fast for Max edrive" and switched it off.

Interesting.

Unfortunately I never used Max edrive outside of cities before the software update was done.
So I can't say if this is a bug or a feature.

So what’s with this battery logo changing with a software update? My battery logo is a square blue battery with cells inside, maybe 4 or 5. Is this the old or the new software? What does the new logo look like? “Triple battery”? Are there any benefits to having the latest software?

We started noticing the update around the middle of 2018...

Not sure what was updated or why the logo changed though.
