Yeah I just heard that from him yesterday, sorry about that!!
Just hit up every dealer that has new 16s still on their lot, I'd guess they are probably pretty desperate to move them at this point. Tell them you will buy at 25k off, haggle, then ask for the lease numbers once sale price is agreed on

I had a question about i8 leases I hoped someone could answer. If you take over a lease, don't you lose the BMW Maintenance program?

I'd like to know the answer to that too. I was under the impression that the 2nd owner of a car lost the maintenance- but I just found out that as long as it is sold by a BMW dealer, the maintenance does transfer. (BMW made the change to prevent the CarMax's of the world from having BMW foot the bill to make their trade-ins perfect for the next owner).

So since the car is staying with BMW and BMW is actually making a little money, I would argue it should continue. But a call to BMW would be in order. Let us know!

So I thought the same thing about the transfer of maintenance and according to BMW's policy now it should not transfer to the second owner or lessee. However, I spoke to two owners that were transferring their leases, both were BMW employees and both were able to transfer with a refresh and a fee of $500 on a 2016 but not fee on a 2015.

I'm debating a downsize, considering the sale of my lease, any interest in a mint-gray/black interior, 2015 I8? $4k down (obo, to offset my down payment) $1092.62/month. Lease expires March of 2018, 10k miles/year, comes out to around 833 miles a month, car currently has around 9k miles on her. Gives you just over a year to enjoy. The car is a blast, 0-60 in the low 4s, but 65mpg on average! Happy to send pics/info. Email me: newstvguy@gmail.com
Location is SC, but happy to research shipping.
Thanks for looking!

It's my last i8 available. The car does have about 700 miles on it because the owner of the dealership drove it around.

I'm also located in New York,
Doesn't seem like that amazing of a deal based on what others have posted. It's a demo basically.

Lease takeovers should give somebody an incentive over getting a brand new one, but this is a higher price than somebody can go get a brand new 16 for right now. Only thing that might attract somebody to this deal is the shorter lease term, but with a big down payment over that short term, it makes the monthly cost that much higher..knock that 4k off and you might get a bite.

Thank you, I appreciate all perspectives. The monthly fee is rather fair, I believe, that's my original lease cost to BMW. I'm negotiable on the down payment, but may have a pending offer. Meanwhile, the short term lease may be especially appealing to some. Just 14 months or so left, however, I believe BMW allows you to extend the lease term up to 6 months, if interested.

I know that the dealership i got it from can't provide that deal, but there are a bunch of 16s still left on lots all over that you can get a very similar deal from..since when was helping others on a forum get the best possible price considered an untasteful opinion??

First off you are pretty new to the forum so I suggest you start being a little less of with that being said if there is a "bunch of 16s still left on lots all over that you can get a very similar deal" why not really help the other fellow members just LIKE WE did here with you and post a similar deal (a real deal) NOT what you think other dealers will do or what you may expect other dealers to do... and its NOT untasteful to help others but there is better ways to do so...

I agree that short term leases can be very desirable to many and the slightly higher payment vs a 24-36 new lease isn't a factor to those who like to get in and out.

I personally might pay more for a short term lease on the i8.

Let's be real here, getting in and out of that thing is not the easiest thing to do. I had a deal to get an i8 at just under $1K - for 3 years. I just think that it would start to wear on me and my body getting into and out of that tub every day. So I passed.

But a year of that? Or maybe 6 months? That's might be cool.

Now, IS350, the only advice I have for you is to NEVER put money down on a lease (in the future). Multiple MSDs, that's ok, but money down on a lease is lost if you total the car and in serious jeopardy, when trying to get out of the lease

Thanks to you and the others for the insight. I really don't mind the ingress/egress of the car, even as a daily driver. I suppose it could get old over time. I will say, the amount of attention you get from others when those doors are up, is surreal. But I'm a car guy, so if time allows, I talk with them and showcase the car.

Very true on the down payment, some of that was credit and rebates I worked hard to negotiate, so I'm trying to get some of that back. I'm not terribly desperate to sell the lease, as I do love this car, but it's probably the smart thing for me to do, for now, financially. I will of course be fair, and, there may be better deals out there, but yes, the lure is the 13 month commitment, I think.

Thanks, again!

If anyone finds a better deal for a short term lease, certainly post it here for others!

Sounds solid. 2 year lease? Lease acquisition fee rolled into the lease? What was the sale price of the car, money factor and residual, if you don't mind?
Thx.

3yr lease. yes absolutely nothing out of my pocket until second month. all fees and 1st payment rolled into deal. They took 24k off msrp. Not sure what money factor ended up being.
On a side note when you lease a car from out of state (at least in CA) make sure you take into account that the out of state dealer can NOT register the car for you. Thus you will incure another $1200 in DMV fees after you take pocession as well as smog the vehicle and verify vin etc in order to register. Def a small pain in the ass.
