Sesame coated almonds are unbelievable. Drizzled with a little honey for the seeds to stick gets u some natural sugar for energy too.

Sounds great. Digging through our freezer, I broke a piece off a frozen chunk of praline (caramelized hazelnut paste) today, so good.

added pecans back to my smoothies, those and walnuts have been a great addition to my diet and smoothies. Fiber, healthy fats, protein = awesome.

I’m addicted to fresh walnuts in my morning plain Greek yogurt with protein powder (vanilla or chocolate, are my fav).
Also do pecans or almonds to mix it up a bit.
I’m terrible with cashews, I cannot stop eating them, so I don’t buy them often as I overdose in calories.
All of them non-salted.

Nuts really are good food. My faves:

- almonds
- walnuts
- pistachios
- hazelnuts

Peanuts (not a nut!) and cashews (not a nut!) are good but don't do much for me.

"cashew, almond, and pistachio plants are not true nuts, but are rather classified as "drupes." Drupes are fruits that are fleshy on the outside and contain a shell covering a seed on the inside. What we consume is this seed. The classification of walnuts and pecans is not as clear cut— they have characteristics of both nuts and drupes, but don't completely fulfill the criteria for either. Some refer to them as "nut-like drupes", others as "drupaceous nuts". Interestingly, peaches and mangoes are also drupes—except in this case, we eat the fleshy exterior and not the shell and seed found inside it. Confusing, isn't it?"

It's amazing what you can do with cashews or almonds and a blender.

I eat almonds and cashews almost daily along with pepitas and ground flax seeds. I would caution eating a lot of Brazil nuts, they can increase your selenium level too much. One or two Brazil nuts a week would be enough to keep selenium levels in check for most people.

I love walnuts as they contain one of my favorite words, naphthoquinone. Technically, it is Juglone but it's a naphthoquinone. They unfortunately cause me too much oxidative stress so I don't eat them often.

How do you know how much oxidative stress they give you?

There are a number of things that can give an indication of oxidative stress levels. A few are sleep quality, mood, cutaneous dehydration of the skin around fingernails, libido, degree of tinnitus, ability to concentrate, and how my wedding ring fits. I've been in poor health so I have a really good baseline on how bad or how good I can be.

I can easily smash a bag of almonds without thinking about it. Seriously the best snack! But I have to be cautious when eating nuts. If I eat anymore than a small handful a day my #2s get rather messy

When bad things die in your GI tract, that usually happens.

Been putting a few handfuls of sunflower seed based trail mix in my smoothies - and also eating them normally - great snack vs high carb garbage
