Picked up my Phytonic Blue/Mocha iX xDrive50
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com My timeline: 4/24: sent build spec to my CA 4/25: CA replied and put me on iX50 allocation queue (I was #5) 6/29: CA told me that he secured a production slot for end of July. I was cautiously excited and reminded him that I didn't want to have the iX too early. He reassured me that even though it was a July slot, it was possible the car wouldn't get delivered for some time due to various delays at factory, port, VDC, etc. End of July I checked My Garage status, but there was no change. 8/31: Status 150 and VIN assigned. It was now scheduled for 9/15 completion. 9/8-9/14: I checked My Garage every day and it went through each step steadily 9/15: Awaiting carrier 9/19: At the port 10/5: CA told me my car was on Atlas Leader that departed Bremerhaven 10/2 (ETA Port Hueneme 11/2) I started tracking Atlas Leader journey and created this thread: https://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/s....php?t=1959873 11/4: Atlas Leader arrived at Port Hueneme (2 days behind original schedule) 11/7: Received at VDC 11/10: Released from VDC 11/17: Arrived at dealership Before I continue, I want to send a big thank you and shout out to my CA: Jon Shafer at BMW of Santa Maria. If you've been around the BMW community since the 2000, the name Jon Shafer should be familiar to you. He was the founder of Bimmerfest and at that time the GM at BMW of Santa Barbara. Jon used to be super active on Bimmerfest and provided tons and tons of information to the community. I've known him since 2002 when I did my first Euro Delivery, and this iX is the 5th car I got from him. If you're in NorCal or SoCal, please contact Jon to see if he can help you. Keep in mind though BMW of SM is a small family owned dealer so it's not in the same league as those mega dealership in LA or Bay Area. I live in the Bay Area myself, but I'd rather make the trek to Santa Maria and work with Jon because he makes the whole process easy and he always proactively keeps me updated. Yesterday was the first time I dealt with BMW of SM and everybody was also very nice. Huge thanks to the entire team! Ok, now it's time for photos Last edited by r00ts; 11-26-2022 at 02:35 PM.. |

Since my X5 was due back on Nov 24, I drove it and did the return there. So the timing turned out to work perfectly for me. I guess I was really lucky all the stars were aligned perfectly.
Before I left, I took these photos. Note that the X5 grille looks puny compared to iX |

Congratulations. I really like blue cars but I wasn't a fan of Phytonic Blue for the X5 or X7 and wish BMW offered Tanzanite Blue on the iX. However, I'm becoming a convert and I think I'm going to switch my order to Phytonic Blue. It looks really good on the iX.

Same! This is the combo I have on order except adding the exterior bronze trim. Looks really great together, congrats! Thanks for sharing the pics. I'm extra excited for ours now

Congratulations! Saw my first one on the road recently, and in all black it doesn't look too ridiculous?
Enjoy!

I like the looks. Beautiful SUV, especially in blue colour. The thing I don't like is there is no real engine with iX. The more time goes on the more I don't like the idea driving electric cars.

I'm the opposite - Phytonic is a standard colour on many BMWs so it's very common, whereas Tanzanite is extra so not many of them around.
For those that remember Estoril Blue II, I think Phytonic is the new version. |

Really appreciate the shout out about Jon and his history. We need to 'reward' good sales advisors more. Thanks - oh, and enjoy!!
