Has anyone inquired about individual paint on the iX? Any idea on rough pricing?

I was told it was not available for the 2022 models, waiting for confirmation about the 2023. My expectation is that it will be a no for now.

I also asked if I could have it (when I ordered JAN22), and was told I would have to wait until the next model year, delivering in 2023. That surely would mean soon options may be opening up? should that bear true.

Individual paint is a ~$5000 option....assuming the color you choose is approved.

BMW will happily take your $5k for a custom paint job but won't give a lumbar seat on a $110k car... something doesn't sound right.

Or a hands-free tailgate. Nibbled to death by ducks....

It's ok you also lose some driver assistance features like auto lane changes when you order an individual paint...

Long a point of speculation with BMW if the paint color made a difference in the actual functioning of various automatic safety features, because they were eliminated in some markets. Never confirmed, and from empirical evidence (safety features included in some markets, some not, some models, some not, same color of paint) probably the paint color makes no difference at all in whether a feature works or not. Just another Teutonic quirk from Bavaria....

If I had to guess, it is more about not wanting to spend the time and money to test the systems with the rare paint color choices, not that they necessarily expect them to not work, they just don't take chances with safety related systems which although it is frustrating is the right mentality to have. Whether this is overkill or not is not easy to determine from our uninformed point of view if this guess is near the truth.
