BMW has provided no incentives since the car's introduction, even incentives that were available on most other models, and I haven't seen any decrease in demand reported - in fact wait times are well over a year in some regions. Supply has also not significantly ramped up either that I can tell, and there has been at least one additional recall that slowed deliveries even more to some areas. There are reports of parts inventory improving, but not significant enough to noticeably speed up repairs or deliveries. Dealer inventories that I've seen in my area are pre-orders, or the minimally-equipped late 2022 models that came with virtually no options and are now largely demos. For the foreseeable future, I would expect to pay MSRP or better for an optioned car, and expect a wait.

I think it’s totally possible that supply is surpassing demand, but I just wanted to point out that when I was looking for an iX it seemed every dealer had half a dozen… until I inquired in earnest. Then I found they were all spoken for. Particularly true when browsing dealers online. They’ll put everything coming in on the site even if it’s a preorder.

It was worth the trip to the dealer just to see storm bay in person even if the cars on the lot weren’t available.

Exactly. I looked on my dealer website. And my vehicle was listed as “coming soon.” I believe most of what you are seeing is sold.

My local dealer seems to have more iX’s on the lot. Quite a few M60’s. This is just checking online though.

I would imagine it’s people backing out of orders for whatever reason, recession fears, higher interest, etc.

I’ve budgeted a 6.5% interest rate regardless and it took me months but I’ve gotten used to it.

I justify this by using the foolish saying “it’s just money, can always make more of it”, the SO is not a fan of this mantra….

To answer your question, I got mine for MSRP. Would be great if there’s any applicable incentives by the time the car arrives, I’d even be thrilled with the BMW loyalty discount of $750 but I’m not optimistic about it.

Some dealers locally will sell i4 e40 at msrp. i4 M50 is $5-10k over.

iX 50 is usually $5-10k over. iX M60 is $10-$20k over. i7 is $20k+ over :-O

I'm expecting to pick up my iX50 order at the end of this year. Invoice from dealer shows MSRP + $500 "Dealer Processing Charge" here in Maryland. My argument to my sales advisor is if the $500 was some sort of charge for a service, then I shouldn't be paying 6% sales tax on that $500. As far as I'm concerned, if there's a sales tax charge, then it's no different than "additional dealer markup".

When I picked up my ix three weeks ago the SA showed me the dealership queue for production and told me that they were not getting any allocations. Also, at the same time they were selling their test drive 2022 ix literally in front of me. The rumors of increased production and decreased demand are just not true. Be happy if you get the car for MSRP at this point.

This sounds like a very localized problem and from personal experience, it varies from one dealer to the next. Dealers will also ask for the moon but you chose if the ask is reasonable. The reality is that the lead time is much shorter now than it was even three months ago. M60's seem to have an almost immediate build slot available. BMW dealers traditionally don't have large inventories of all models for various reasons. Available build slots are often a better indicator and unfortunately that's not something that is transparent to buyers.

With the revised 2024 Q8 e-tron that we'll see in Q1, BMW will face more pressure so stay tuned. I'm not going to compare merits of the Q8 e-tron vs the iX but this will be a car that people will cross shop so the competition is welcome.

Locally, we have a few iX's actually on the dealer lot. One dealer has three 'program' vehicles that have miles on them. Another dealer has a few base model iX's actually on the lot. And another dealer has one or two on the lot and I suspect the buyer backed out on their order. The i4 40's are plentiful and there are a couple local i4 M50's on the lot. Production on the iX is ramping and since this is built on the same assembly line as the G30 which is approaching it's last 6 months of series production I don't think there is contention at the factory.

Yeah my order is with Passport BMW so if you were able to get some sway I was going to try the same thing.

At least in Maryland those processing fees are capped by law at $500, which is why I tend to buy cars across the river in Maryland vs. here in Virginia where there is no cap.

Interesting, I did not know that. No such fee on my Tesla purchase, although admittedly they have a $250 order fee. Tesla also locks in pricing in as of your date of order, even if the vehicle you get is a different model year.

I'd be surprised if they can hold MSRP for long.
My local BMW dealer has had 5+ iX in inventory for a few weeks now.

Everybody has inventory building up, look at Tesla. Hyundai dealers near me have dozens of Ioniq 5 now when I do searches, after being a hot commodity with ADM as well.

One month ago I was offered from 500$ to 750$ off to purchase iXs on the dealers' lots, from two different dealers. I decided to wait for my order, which I had been waiting for since July.

I eventually could not wait for my fully specced iX order anymore (built 7/22/22 and still stuck @VPC in NJ as of today with no ETA of parts) and took delivery of a Tesla model Y, and plan to circle back to iX when this supply chain issue gets better.

I can imagine that with the order to build system with the BMW, the demand/supply ratio probably is not going to be too much off.

I just read an article that auto chip shortages are expected to persist through to 2024. Basically suppliers say they are sold out on everything they can build for the next 12-18 months.

with economy as it is today, I just don't see demand will skyrocketing again.

on the other side, supply is improving across the industry (particularly semiconductors, still some sporadical shortage in certain areas but many mainstream tech node are over supplied now)

I have an pre-order on R1S (before price hike) and are debating should I go with iX.

if price is right iX seems a fantastic car.
