iX 600 mile range
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com https://newatlas.com/automotive/one-...-ix-suv-range/ In other articles it sounds like ONE will have a production factory for Gemini batteries running in early 2024. Maybe the iX gets an upgrade for the 2025 model year? Alan |

So our brand-new 2024 iX M60 with the newest head unit, iDrive 8.5 and Highway Assistant, won't be able to drive 600 miles like its replacement next year. Light the torches, grab the pitchforks and storm the castle!

Hmm...these guys also doubled the range of the Tesla back on 2021, but somehow this technology has not been integrated into any recent Teslas yet. I wonder why that is? Maybe it's still too hard to produce these types of batteries at a high enough yield?

Weight being equal, I'll take a 800v battery over a battery with 600mi range and questionable charging characteristics. Based on the chemistry, I'm guessing (since there isn't any data) that 600mi battery doesn't do well in the cold.

Yup! The headunit plus highway assistant alone is not enough for me to upgrade from my ‘23 to a ‘24 (especially considering I don’t even have 2k miles on it in six months), but a 2025 might be in my future if I don’t buy an i7 M70 first.

Yeah, this would be interesting to see. I mean, if it's 50% inefficient in cold, meaning 300mi range in winter and 600mi range in summer, I'd still take it over 300mi range year around.

The ONE. Website. It has several relevant stories. https://one.ai/ I’ve looked all over for charging info including voltage but there is nothing out yet. I would think they would have to go to a higher voltage to keep the charge times reasonable. Alan Last edited by AlanG; 06-19-2023 at 07:40 PM.. |

Last year, right about before ordering the iX, I went to a Tesla store and asked about those new batteries. The sales guy told me that, in fact, those were available in small quantity but the cars got less range and slower acceleration.
Also, around the same time I found a Youtube vidoe describing disassembling of the same new battery and they actually showed how there is less new cells fit in the same volume compared to the “old” ones. All and all, I’dventure a guess that as of right now all thos ranges are just empty promises. Unless, they pack a 200kW battery in the car. |

I saw one article that quoted just that, 200kW. And they are repacking the cells with the high energy density to reduce the chance of thermal runaway. And they do have at least one real world road test at 750 miles. So not quite vaporware but certainly a lot of detail not available yet. Lots of speculation right now because no one is giving out much detail. I’ve read the resume of the CEO and he has a lot of EV battery experience. Still, it’s mostly just teasing now. This technology is not in any Tesla and no company "doubled" Tesla's range. Tesla makes its own batteries and none use this dual chemistry technology. Tesla's standard range models utilize LFP batteries sourced from China.

On that “special” battery, I call BS … it’s probably 20% better, the rest is hyper milling … I remember the days when some Tesla Model S owners where putting in 900km drives on a single charge, when I saw that video of the “special” battery it reminded me of the same way they drove as those early record seekers.
