Love this thread. It's a bit skewed towards Japanese imports, though. There are plenty of BMW ricers as well.

At its core, ricer is any aftermarket mod that makes your car more obnoxious than it should be. The threshold for whether it's more obnoxious than it should be or it's just "aggressive" is, as with anything, in the eye of the beholder.

nice list there. All cars are susceptible to tasteless mods or "rice", and I've seen a lot of ricey bmws too!

one thing on that list was

I always associated "ricer" with obnoxiously modified Japanese cars; not just cosmetic though. Hence the use of rice for an Asian manufacturer. This reasoning overlaps with the term "rice rocket" in the sportbike world.

I remember there was a kid called my TSX a ricers (white on white TE37 with mugen kits) and the kid was driving a slammed 4dr E36 318i with a M badge & diana badge, horrible 20" chrome rim and E46 M3 replica front bumper (use zip tie to hold it!)
