Chou Farci, stuffed cabbage
Recipe from Bruno Albouze on YouTube Savoy cabbage leaves stuffed with ground pork, onions, carrots, garlic, chopped cabbage, prosciutto, parsley and grated cheeses. Plated with tomato sauce. This is a regular in the rotation, it comes up a couple of times per year. The flavor combination is excellent and the cabbage is a nice flavor and texture with the more familiar onion, carrot and pork flavors. Freezes well and is better the second and third time around. |

Have a reservation at one of my favorite local restaurants tonight. Their menu changes weekly based on what is in season and freshly available. Trying to decide between the Quail Grillades, Bouillabaisse or the Filet......

Hotel sambar, Indian lentil stew.
Garnished with fresh cilantro and a tadka with onion seeds, curry leaves and hing/asafoetida Recipe from Kabita’s Kitchen on YouTube. One of the best food items I have ever eaten. I subbed some veggies because the Indian grocery in the area didn’t have a few items. Lentils Onion Tomato Acorn squash Zucchini Green beans Spices: Onion seeds Curry leaves Hing/asafoetida Fenugreek seeds Cumin seeds Coriander seeds Dried coconut Turmeric Tamarind juice Urad dal Chana dal Paprika/red chili powder Black peppercorns Salt The tadka is a garnish of spices (curry leaves, onion seeds and hing) fried in oil or ghee, until the onion seeds pop and the curry leaves are crispy. The tadka is poured hot on the dish when served. One word: wow |

It was Pizza dough but the wifey had a hard time with this one. So it end up square looking like a flat bread but was delicious.

I cheated and used a premade flatbread the other day and used my own ingredients and it was actually pretty good. BTW, your kitty always seems to approve what's on your menu no matter what. |

Steak frites with onions
Frites are a bit overdone but the flavor and mouth feel more than made up for it. Frites tossed in freshly grated asiago, fresh parsley, salt and fresh cracked pepper. Très bien! Pan seared NY strip from a local meat specialist, excellent as always. Pan seared together with the onions. Seasoned with fleur de sel and pepper. Mayonnaise on the side and strawberries for dessert.
