i don't know. there are quite a few consultants and physicians on here that can clean up. I ask because I've been trying to gauge whether purchasing luxury car is a sensible decision.

You dont need to make a fortune to have a bimmer..most people rent them... just like Ferraris and very luxury cars. Its funny you cannot buy a Ferrari at fisrt, you have first lease one.

but even leasing a bmw can run anywhere from 4-600/month depending on where the hell you live.

(I don't know first hand just rehashing what I have heard from folks I know and people who have talked about these types of things)

I for one have a money tree so it doesn't matter.

You should be able to afford at least an M5 making that kind of money.

My mom is a pharmancist and my dad is a airplane mechanic technician with $60k in debt. I work part time at Fry's and we all pitch in and pay $530 a month for my 325i including insurence, Lexus, Electricity, Life insurence and mortgage payment.

I wansn't trying to brag. i apologize if thats what it seemed. I onlywanted to perform a survey so i thought i'd go first. Though i don't think you're accusing me of bragging. And yes, the salary of an engineer in silicon valley would indeed own my own.

you'd probably get a better response if you posted this as a poll, where members could post anonymously.

Because I need a car for college and 325i is not just for me but for the whole family. I will most likely be taking the corolla when I'm off to college anyway.
