What are some common issues with BMW i3

Have you had any issues with your BMW i3? What were they? What are some common problems on BMW i3? Any specific to REx models?

I want to stay ahead of the game and check some of them out or do preventative maintenance if that helps etc.

Thanks!

The most common issues are worn out front strut bearings and rusty brakes. The trick is to use the brakes regularly to avoid the rust.

12V aux battery will fail every ~3 years like clockwork. When electronic things start acting wonky, change it ASAP or you could wind up stuck with a car that suddenly won't turn on.....

I don’t think that is an issue particular to the i3.
12 volt batteries fail on all cars, especially if they are not properly maintained.

It seems like EV's in general chew through them every three years, regardless of maintenance. My wife's Niro EV had the 12V aux battery leave her stranded at 35 months old, and I've read similar reports from Leaf owners. This is why I suggested that the OP and their 2019 model become familiar with its location and the few warning signs of an impending 12V aux battery failure.....

Door seals can get torn due to the shape and size of the sills with people catching feet on them

I have a 2013 model which I think is on its original 12V battery and assume it's ok but having read the comment about things acting up I have an issue with the climate control LED's flickering. Could the battery cause this?

I have a 2015 BMW i3 (fully electric no REX). One day all of a sudden I needed the navigation map to go somewhere, and all of a sudden although I am based in The Netherlands, my navigation system was saying I as in the middle of the sea! Anyone else had or knows someone who had the issue? Since I have an iDrive 6 system, it is not possible to reboot the system (only possible with iDrive systems from 7 above). I am becoming crazy, and I can't find any threads with people that had the same issue. Before I go to the dealer I want to check everything, in case it happens again.
