Does anywone know the results of the skidpad testing on Model 3?
How about cabin noise readings compared to G20 at highway speeds? I read everywhere thst Model 3 is noisy at highway speeds, some measurements performed by Tesla owner Bjørn show a VW e-Up is at 72db at 70mph which is same as Model 3 Performance. I find it quite dissapointing tbh. Also an e-Golf is quieter by almost 3dB at same speed. |

Funny I am on the Mercedes forum and people are adding dynamat to make the car "more luxurious".
Tesla does not provide that "serene" experience imo,.but you can DIY with good results. Many YouTubers adding additional seals to their Model 3. |

I bought a Model 3 performance because for same price I could get a base trim 330i so I am happy. Will report back on how it feels conpared to G20 if someone is interested.

Please do, I'd love to see an owner's perspective of switching from a BMW to a Tesla on Bimmerpost, I find that too many of the Tesla reviews (and other new cars) focus on the technology rather than the driving experience and how it compares to the class, so an owner review/comparison could be quite interesting and informative, just ignore all the negative comments that come w/ that post of course.

All the reviews have said the performance handles awesome and outperforms just about anything else on the track and in a straight line. It's now $54,990 which is around the same price as well equipped 330. Though if you want full self driving it's more. Or if you want a color other than white which I'm fine with white.

I just can't warm up to the way the model 3 exterior looks. Too bad it doesn't look like a small model s, which I wouldn't mind. |

Tesla Model 3 Performance 6 month ownership update:
-Not a single issue or problem to bitch about. -The car is both faster AND smarter than the day I bought it. -Musk said it would be faster around a track than an M3, and he was right! -Handling is similar to the top-spec European competitors, though the retail price is 20+% lower than any of them. -The audio system is among the best I've heard in any vehicle, despite no brand name on any of the components. -Front seats are amazingly comfortable. -SO smooth and quiet. -Fantastic visibility - hood drops away dramatically, and the fenders lend it a 911-like view of the road. -Road-tripped 400 miles to Northern Michigan recently and the 2 Supercharging stops required less than 25 minutes in total. I lunched during the first stop and did my grocery-shopping during the second. 6:50 door-to-door including the stops, or just about on par with the time generally required in our ICE vehicles.. -The "limited" auto-pilot function makes long-distance highway driving much less fatiguing. -Zero maintenance required - now or really ever. -It feels like it was hewn from a solid steel ingot. It's more fun to drive than any car I've ever owned. Oh, and yes, the Performance model has a "Track" mode that both changes the handling behavior of the car and employs extra cooling for the battery and components that let it perform at a high level for a longer period of time. |

I just saw this. It was so disappointing but exactly as I expected.
The new G20 just doesn't have it. It's better than the F30 sure, but it's not a "real" BMW. Too big, too isolated, too boring for anything other than a straight line. I just don't understand how BMW thinks their customers are so repulsed by some weight/feel in the steering that they've diluted their brand so hard. Even in sport mode these cars don't inspire confidence. I've been driving a new G05 M sport for a week and am bored of it already. Even in Sport Plus you can turn the wheel with a finger. With my "spirited" driving, especially on the highway, I have no idea what the front wheels are doing and get a bit frightened. It's disconcerting.

In real world, it's almost imperceptible, as the acceleration of TM3P is brutally quick at all levels of SOC. Data here: https://insideevs.com/news/339051/te...s-battery-soc/ Quote:
Meah. I can't warm up to the G20 looks - just stupid busy nose, and rear bumper inserts would be embarrassing even on a Hyundai. Quote:
On the flip side, they've conceded the "exciting sports sedan" claim to AMG, Alfa Quad, and now Tesla. Where BMW goes from here - your guess is as good as mine. Personally, I'm not optimistic for BMW. a

Agreed. Also, my kids think Tesla is FAR cooler than any and all BMWs combined. a

The seat comfort is fantastic (for me - 6' 2", 200 lbs) for street driving, which after all makes up 99.93% of most people's driving. I don't doubt that they won't be ideal for track events, but I'm good with that trade off. One other item: I get lots of compliments on the car's looks. I know it's not for everyone, but the general public seems to think it looks fantastic. :-) |

Access to the rear seats is hampered by a small and narrow door opening. The rears seem more comfortable but the car definitely feels small. 3 back there is a pinch better suited for a short runs. Model S seats are more comfortable in the front but interior is cheap and low rent. Dash, doors feel and sound hollow and center console is a feast of cheap hard plastics. The rear seating in the S is not as comfortable due to the dolly shaped back head rests. But definitely there is more room in the back than the Model 3. Model 3 interior materials are better but the huge black lid in the center console was hard plastic and refused to close. Overall, my biggest caveat with Tesla's is the run of the mill interior quality. Going back to my G30 with its sublime comfortable seats and premium quality interior was a revelation.

Odd because the surfaces don't work - they scratch easily and are fingerprint magnets. Silly because they could have easily charged a coupla hundred bucks at least if they'd offered an option of wood trim there, matching the open-pore wood across the dash. I added a matching "wrap" for those surfaces and it looks OEM. |
