Exactly. I went from an M4 to i8 coupe to M850i back to i8 roadster. Lease price was compelling and it is a great daily driver.

I pondered a purchase of an i8 for several years. I struggled with the silliness of spending so much on a car. In the end, with the deep price reductions, I got a 2019 coupe. So happy I did. Love this car, 10k trouble-free miles.

Anyone that says “I owned A Porsche, a Mercedes, an i8, and am going to buy a mclaren” means they probably owned them in model cars. You know the ones where you put on your desk at work? Poor sonny

When it was made, it was an engineering marvel and was unique in its segment. It it not a routine car and it's not for everyone. Even at that price bmw was not making money with that car, but I think that was a great marketing move to show an electric (hybrid) car can look much cooler that your neighbor 911.
Any how, I know many people who were happily bought that car and enjoy it.
No arm twisting to buy that car, actually you can't anymore to order a new one.
