Wanted e drive badge

Anyone have a genuine spare e drive badge they want to sell?

The black paint has started peeling off on mine.

A really common issue. Black Smoothrite is the answer. I used a fine brush to ' refill' mine. Looks like new and now seems pressure washer proof!

The eBay ones for £25 are the China copies, my last M badges sidle last that long as metal poor.
The genuine ones seem to be about £70 so not cheap.

The 7 series side ‘E Drive’ badges look the same and much cheaper for some reason but they are longer at 110mm opposes to around 80mm? Might not look much difference I guess.

I might try the paint as suggested but mine has a few marks now?

I originally tried taking it off as looks better without it but it left a bad mark in the black gloss as though took a bit of the lacquer off with it so had to stick it back on!

E Drive Badge

I asked my dealer to look at the badge on my i8 at its last service as the paint was peeling off.

They replaced it under warranty.

I don’t think my aftermarket warranty would cover that?

I imagine that the excess wouldn't make it worthwhile.

Always a risk when taking your car in. noone treats a car like you do your own. I cringe when I see the folks at bmw effectively 'throw' themselves when getting into my car.

That's why I like the glass wall so much with Lexus where you can relax snd watch what happens to your car every step of the way. I always insist on a dialog handover in BMW, alternatively a direct signature that the car was handed over by me flawlessly and take 30 Minutes to check it when it is returned to me. Meanwhile the service department lead does the check before as well after his wheel hotel damaged two rear rims (which BMW replaced with new ones without discussion) and we actually talked about this before the wheel change.

I do similar checks (just a few mins, not 30 though).

I'm reminded when I received one of my other bmws back with no cap on the brake fluid reservoir after a service and almost drove through their barrier!

I do the same now as well and they know me! I just ask them to go round it and point out any defects.

Ive bought a new badge now btw! Bit nervous about taking the old one off though as it glued on

use the old dental floss and hairdryer technique and you'll be fine, just don't use a frickin screwdriver like an apprentice BMW bodyshop worker!!

I ordered some BMW Jet Black touch up paint and it worked well to correct the problem.

Is that the same paint as the black paint on the alloys, I have a few stone chips that need touching in?

New badge now on

As someone said, hairdryer and dental floss worked a treat.

It is level but the angles above and below make it look like it isn’t ha ha, hard to get that right balance.

Tape arround the badge, before removing it. Than place the new badge exactly in the tapes space.
