Quick Question for cyclist owning a i4 M50

Curious if a road or MTB would fit in the back with the rear seats folded? I assume the front wheel would have to be removed - but in pics it looks like a large cargo area so maybe not...
Thanks for your feedback..

I am a cyclist also, but haven't done the bike test yet as I won't have my M50 for another month or two.

My Trek road bike (I have a Trek MTB also) will fit in the back of my i3 with the seats down and without having to take any of the wheels off (front wheel is turned though). The i4 is quite a bit longer than the i3 however it has a longer front since it is built on a shared platform, however, even so I think it will fit inside. I am hopeful anyway.

I don't have my car yet, but my E90 335i was fine to transport my mountain or road bike with the front tire removed. The i4 has more room.

It can be difficult to make general statements about bikes fitting in the back of vehicles because: a) frame sizes can vary quite a bit and b) frame geometry can also vary. For example my previous Trek Madone road bike would slide right into the back of our 2017 Volt. My current ride, a Specialized gravel bike, won't, even though the frame size is the same.

Has anyone in Europe who has an I4 had a tow hitch installed for the I4? I was hoping to install a hitch mounted bike rack and wanted to see if its feasible.

Your specialized gravel bike does not fit in the back of the BMW I4?

I am sure www.stealthhitches.com will offer one. Their product is amazing, I have one on my X3MC. I will purchase one for my i4 M50 if they offer it.

In the EU a tow hitch is available from the factory...very fancy in that it is powered and swings out with the touch of a button in the boot...and the backup camera has a hitch view.
The i4 has roof rail mounts, very easy to get bikes up there.

i have a size 52 Cervelo S5 and it fits fine in my 135. Should be able to fit the majority of bikes aside from maybe the really chonky mountain bikes.

I don't know one way or the other as I'm still on the waitlist to even put in an order. It's a 61" frame though.

A lot of guessing - but no one posting about actual attempts to put a bike in the i4. Hopefully, the Colnago owner reports back...

RE: Trailer hitches... I talked to the owner of Stealth Hitches about the iX50, as like the i4... BMW offers a nice hitch in Europe for the iX, but maddeningly excluded any hitch option in the USA. His
response was that as soon as he can get his hands on one to measure/test he will get busy with a design.

Based on the way cars are built, I would venture a guess the wiring is in place in a US market I4 to install the factory hitch, just have to order the parts from EU (hitch, retract/extend mechanism and trunk mounted switch)...the one thing that you probably cant get is the hitch view on the camera page.

I agree. I think most of us use the hitch for bikes than towing. I would have hoped that there are more third party options to install these hitches. The dealers charge an arm and a leg and dont want to trust a Uhaul installer to touch my BMW

Don't know as I forgot to take it when we went down for the test drive and I'm still on the waitlist to even put an order in.
