Unfortunately this never became the halo car bmw had intended. Now it's time for lipstick on a pig approach, we may see a few more "special editions" before they finally put this thing to rest.

I wouldn't call 200 "limited". For this car at this point in time 200 I probably units moved in a year. Seriously, does anyone know how many were sold last year?

End of day the i8 was an experimental vehicle for this category and getting customers to subsidise their R&D is a smart move.

While I'm not a fan as well of the BMW i cars, they serve as a market test for BMW and they will know how to better make these kinda products for future.

There will always be someone that likes the product and buy it.

i8 began its evolution as a car with a lot of promise, with a head turning style. Better powertrain choices could have propelled this car into an exclusive club with substantially higher sales numbers. Alas - no S55 engine for i8 and early retirement now confirmed.
