Pffft I use to live in a condo in Miami Beach, ON the beach, never once stepped foot in the water. The sand maybe, I was into photography back then so was probably on the sand at some point to take pics, but that's about it. There was a boardwalk along the beach that I would walk on but that's it. I'm not a beach person. Especially here. I don't find the beaches in SFL all that nice and they are always packed with people.

I've been to the beach on the west coast of FL a couple times and enjoy that better. I do like the ocean, ocean views etc, just not the actual beach, sand, salt water ack!

I am in sales, but would much prefer to get out of it & into something where my skills still translate. So where are the jobs & where is the money? Not trying to move to a place where I will make peanuts & struggle. Not that I am a baller here.

So what cities/states should I look at?
great thread, sometimes I wonder if NYC is worth it.

So many people there! I lived in SoCal for 10 yrs. I miss the positive aspects, funny how my mind tends to forget the negatives. I miss snowboarding and surfing and amazing food most.

There's two different Orange Counties imo. If you have a family, South OC is where it's at. If you're single, go live in LA lol

Out of the options you gave OP, id choose TX and specifically Houston area, even more specific, the Woodlands or Sugar Land. As a So Cal guy, all the locations you listed, the weather sucks. But those two Houston suburbs I mentioned are pretty nice and it's close enough to Houston that you could still get that big city fun if you wanted.

Lol, here in Charlotte, one day it was 25 degrees, the next day it was 75, the next day it snowed, the day after that we got a terrential downpour and a couple naders, then it went back down into the 30s, and today it's 72 degrees out...

Well, then. Atlanta, GA is the place. I live here as a newbie for 12 years. It's a BMW hot bed. Five BMW dealerships, it's a BMW town. We have Road Atlanta, an active BMW CCA club, great weather and hotties. The best of everything is here. Don't forget the airport that seems to fly non-stop to everywhere at a reasonable price. I call it Disneyland. A feel good city.

There's several Orange Counties. I'm partial to the one in New York, home of the Purple Heart Museum, West Point, two decent cliff-driving roads, and plenty of mountains with hiking trails. I'd mention OCC and those bike-building clowns, but y'all are welcome to take them to OC California or OC Florida.

Seriously though, stay away from NY State! If the snow doesn't kill you, the taxes will.....

Please don't confuse that 20-mile concrete cesspool (NYC) at the SE tip of our state with the other 400+ miles of beautiful (but still over-taxed) civilized scenery.....

Sadly the only place I've spent any time. The city and LI. Would like to spend some time upstate, but want to get to Maine first.

If the OP actually is interested in moving to Houston I would recommend The Woodlands as well. Got more suggestions if OP needs more information.

I too enjoy 100° days with 8,000% humidity for months on end.

I think my favorite memory of visiting Houston was when I visited my girlfriend at the time, she picked me up from Hobby, and as we drove back toward downtown I couldn't see the tops of the buildings through all the smog.

Don't forget one of the best lines in movie history, by Brock Yates in "The Cannonball Run" movie:

"Think of the fact that there's not one state in the 50 that has the death penalty for speeding... although I'm not so sure about Ohio."

It is no coincidence that Cincinnati Microwave (creator of the Escort radar detector) was founded in Ohio.....
