Is it just me that thinks it's a little unsafe?

I've had lots of cars in my life, and driving in SoCal can get on ones nerves. This is my first car that has full time regenerative resistance, which slows the car down by just taking your foot off the accelerator. The thing that really is getting to me, is I commute, and spend most of my time turning my head to see the driver next to me paying no attention to anything but their phone. Now, I have a car that slows so much just by lifting your right foot, the person behind me doesnt see any brake light from me unless it's a necessary full stop. And when people are already distracted, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before I get rear ended.
I'm new to the i3, and I like everything about it, but this. Unfortunately its not the car's fault, just people that can't survive five mins without checking instagram.

Rant put on pause, for now. My twitter feed is blowing up! (kidding)

Yep! Your brake lights are on in those situations.

If anything, other drivers will wonder why you're "braking" so much.

Good to know. Maybe too much brake light is good when it comes to people who don't pay attention when they're behind me.

This video shows a bit how the brake lights operate:

I've been rear-ended 3 times in my two i3's over the years. But ive never worried about the brake lights coming on as the issue. On dark roads at night I can see the red reflection and I feel like they come on TOO much when I just barely let off.

OP, just lift off the throttle gently, and it will coast. Lift off more and it will start to regen brake.

It's a great system. 1 pedal driving.

You may want to investigate the coding stuff to enable the "Dynamic Brake Lights" feature for some extra attention during a panic stop.....
