Dealer paid us to take a new 19 i3 Rex and turn in our 17 is Rex
Our 2017 i3 Rex had 4.5 months left on our 2yr 15k lease, had put 26k miles on it. My dealer had a 2019 they really wanted gone. They took our 2017 with 4 bald tires, no lease turn in fee, no charges for anything (it had many scratches but nothing too serious and 1 wheel had some medium curb rash). In return we got a new 2019 i3 Rex on another 2yr 15k lease, zero out of pocket, for a payment $2 less a month lol. Since the new one cost nothing and my 2017 needed 4 new tires $800 and there could of been lease end fees/charges, they basically paid us to take a new one.
Only reason we did it was for the bigger battery, when the wife takes the i3 to work the whole battery was used on the 2017 with 1/4-1 gallon of Rex gas, plus occasionally she needs to do a work dinner or some other detours and the extra range will help. The only down side is our 2017 had tech and the 2019 has basic nav & the smaller screen which sucks. 2017 had driver assist & park assist, which is not really used or required. One plus of the 2019 was supposedly it had the 19s with AS tires, our 2017 had 20s with summers, but at some point someone swapped them with the same 20s we had. Stinks to be stuck with the 20s again on summers, though we hardly ever use the i3 in winter, was looking forward to it at least being an option. Oh also now have the split moonroof, which is nice although it doesnt open very much. So will be in the i3 camp for another 2 years, we were thinking about buying the 2017 at lease end, guess will revisit that again in 20 months

Congratulations! Just picked up a MY19 i3s 30mo/12k mi year lease here in California.
There are tons of deals to be had on this vehicle w/incentives.. The math worked out well for me here too. It'll sound crazy but the other EV I'm coming from is a MY13 Model S P85 (total loss in an accident.) With the miles the payout was OK, but not good enough for me to want to replace it with another one of the same price. Im pleasantly surprised with the i3. Anyway -- Its a great little commuter! Congrats to you and the added range!
