When I borrowed one for a day, I got about 35mpg, driving it hard, and I used to get 17 in my M3 in similar circumstances. But as Pitkis says, I also used to get 17 driving 10 miles to work & back, with a cold engine, in traffic. In the i8, I'm planning to go electric for that, so 20 miles will cost me about 50p or so (I think), instead of £6.

I've put 250 miles on my car in the last 10 days, driving it only 6 of those 10 days. Driving it gently, and allowing it to chose between electric and gas I've gotten as much as 180 mpg. I'm averaging 56.0 mpg. My electrical consumption (and I have no idea what this means, I'm reading it off my iPhone app) is 5.9mi/kWh. I often run to the store and back only in electric.
Yesterday a 6er buddy of mine from the Knights of the Roundel site (Spyder) and I took the car out and I let him drive it from the Malibu colony to his house up in the hills at one of the highest points of the Santa Monica Mountains. He pushed it hard up the hill, sucking gas and electricity. The gas consumption was something like 15.7 mpg. The car is very enjoyable and I've actually learned how to get in and out without looking like I'm drunk.

I've been keeping track of fuel used vs. total mileage. Of the first 3200 miles on the car, only 60ish are from electricity from the charger at the house (I use sport regularly when approaching my destination to charge some for eDrive around town). Comprehensive MPG is around 36.5 for those 3200 miles. Not bad considering my driving style. That's mostly in Comfort. Put it in EcoPro a few times.
