I like the 116 here in Ireland; a great looking vehicle but I haven't had the chance to look into the specs.

Grammar correctness: It makes it much easier to read someone's post when it's coherent.

Yeah, I agree completely.

I think I'll write BMW a letter and ask them to stop making so many different cars. With so many vehicles, almost ANYONE can drive a BMW. That would mean that I'm no longer special.

Sheez.

oh, and don't forget that there will be gran coupes, and sedans, and coupes, and hatches... oh right, and "M" versions of cars that aren't really M cars ... and of course, the ACTUAL M cars.

IMO, its just TOO MUCH

They aren't very special. Around my job they are as common as a Hyundai Elantra. Many European countries use BMW (well Mercedes too) as cabs. BMW is a excellent car but if you really want to be special then either get a Veyron or move to Somalia, where only you and the local warlords will have BMWs; although they will probably have 750s (like a boss).

I think they should just keep the //m brand on the 1 (bring back the 1M!), 3 & 6 (barely gets a pass) coupes only. The rest are unnecessary. Yeah, yeah, BMW has to make money because its got mouths to feed...

M6 Gran Coupe?

m550dx?! Just...stop...ok...

The main that thing bothers me is the "Gran Coupe". It has 4 doors, not a coupe.

In no way do I think having more and more options will dilute the perceived status of owners, yeah more people will be able to afford certain models, but people are still going to know your status driving a m3, 550i, m5, 750i/760. Aren't the new m5's practically 125-140k all said and done?

Umm, I assume you are being sarcastic, or not paying any attention to Mercedes, Audi, Aston Martin...

The "Coupe" that's a sedan thing is about a decade old...

Anyway...

The notion that BMW is in any way "Exclusive" is also flawed at it's very core. They have had a couple exclusive cars over the years, but it's NOT an "Exclusive" brand whatever the hell that might mean. They are not limited in number, they are not by invitation only, pay your money pick up your car...

There's some alarming insight into the average American's thought process on this thread... It's both comical and yeah a little scary that so many actually seem to believe that a car can elevate their "status". That anyone gives a shit what they are driving. There's a mistaken "cool car"= cool person thing going on. The car might be cool, but the person driving it might be a total shit-bag. The minute you genuinely begin to determine someones "status" or worth based on material shit you've demoted yourself to caveman/cavewoman...

Has it NOT occurred to anyone that besides other car enthusiasts the only people giving a shit what you might be driving are the vapid fucking sack chasers and "OTHER" money grubbing hollow people? Brand-whores are everywhere, trying to appear wealthy. So that sad looking idiot with the LV/Prada bag in her BMW has exactly ZERO net worth (financially or self), forgot to develop a personality or get an education, to lazy to actually work for anything, and instead is attempting to "fake" a way to happiness. SO the "Labels" so many seem to rely on to identify success, status, or whatever the fuck, are useless anyway... Trappings of success have replaced success. You see it everywhere, the "status" via material shit is a fundamental flaw in our society.

Don't buy into it, don't believe it. I mean go ahead and Mock the shit outta the guy in the rusty Civic bouncing down the road, just remember that you don't actually know anything beyond the rusty shit-box... Same with the Premium vehicles, never assume they are decent, real, useful people, simply because the car is nice, they are just as likely to be scumbags as anyone else.

Remember Warren Buffet drove a meh Lincoln Towncar until just a few years ago. So you never know.

I've owned a Z3 M Coupe, 135i and X1 35i. I've driven plenty of 3ers, 5ers and M3's, but never felt enough connection to those cars. If it weren't for the fringe BMW's, I'd likely have never owned one.

I prefer the new naming scheme.
There are some issues at hand, like the original 3 was a coupe, etc.

Currently, if someone says they have a 3 series, you have to ask 2 door or 4 door to know which car they have. (lots of chassis lingo going on) Soon, you will not have to specify. It will be clear, mostly, which style vehicle they own based on the model name.

I am tired of hearing "the 4 series is just so BMW can charge more for a 3 series" --- Wake up. The coupe has cost more than the sedan every time. Look at 6 series vs 5 series.
