Strange.. I've been checking my phone and have done the Remote Software Upgrade from within the car.. Mine's still stuck at the 11/2022.64 update.

Wonder if it's just slowly rolling out or if I have some other issue going on..

Some people that are on any variant of 03/2023 are showing a different version in the app. Also, I haven’t seen anyone post an OTA update from 11/2022.* to 03/2023.*. Looks like you have to go to the dealer to get that version.

Posted this on the other forum yesterday, but no responses. I installed this update a couple of days ago.

I noticed that:
1. I get some annoying audio when I start driving (iconic sounds are OFF)
2. The color of the light strip along the door has changed when first approaching the car. It was blue. Now it's red, followed by white.

What's up with this?

RE: #2, mine has always done that. I believe it’s red unttil the doors are unlocked which then turns to white before the vehicle started at which point the color should change to whatever you have set in iDrive.

When I went from 11/2022.64 to 03/2023.53 my light strip along the door now is doing what your is doing. Sounds like VirtualGuitars is saying this is normal, but mine never did this until I got the 03/2023 update.

Mine was doing this on 11/2022.44 which is the only version I’ve had until I got her back from the dealer today.

Not yet. I literally just got home from the dealer and had to immediately jump on a work call. At least CarPlay and eSIM are working as expected.

Well, about 24 hours later and I’ve already had to reboot iDrive once get to eSIM to work again after multiple short trips. The internal wireless network is still failing to hand out local IP addresses when this occurs. I suppose the headunit just runs of out of RAM when this happens. At least you can do it while you’re driving. Tired of trying to figure it out, but at least I know the remedy. #AintNobodyGotTimeForDat

From reading your posts over the past few months, it sounds like you are rebooting your iDrive more than everyone on the forum put together?! Aren't you frustrated?

Can I ask, is it worth it? What's your use case for the eSim? For the life of me I can't think of one that an iPad wouldn't solve!

It’s usually once every week, sometimes once every two weeks. I use the eSIM for my radar detector which has real-time updates and traffic alerts (independent of Bluetooth or mobile apps which I can also use). I’ve always had this in my previous vehicles. Rebooting iDrive may take 30 seconds of my time, but yes, it’s still worth it. For the record, it’s not the eSIM service, it’s the vehicle’s local internal wireless network not handing out IP addresses to client devices. As I mentioned earlier, I think the headunit just runs out of memory after a period of time.
