Lease and window tinting

Any experience returning a leased car after getting the windows tinted?

I saw some mixed responses but most threads are old

I don’t think BMW financial services cares. The dealer will not be able to sell it unless it’s legal.

My detailer said he can easily remove the tint for $100. So it seems pretty straightforward to do beforehand if you get any trouble from your dealership trying to charge for you “wear and tear”!!

Haven't had an issue with tint on a lease return. BMWFS' own webpage doesn't mention anything either but I imagine if you roll up with 5% tint on the front windshield that you might get some grief. But as darylp310 said, it's easy to remove.

Dealers do not care, and in fact Bob Smith BMW is now tinting brand new cars in the showroom (since it appeals to buyers) and the last 3 cars we traded, they kept our tinting and put them on the pre-owned lot!

I leased many BMWs in the past (own my current ones). Every one of the leases had tint on every single window including the windshield. I have never received a lease-end charge from bmw. Get your lease end inspection done prior to turn in and you will know for sure if they are trying to bust your stones about it and remove it if the cost to remove is lower than the excess wear fee.

I can’t see anyone having an issue returning the vehicle with tinted windows.

Dealers don’t care about tint. 20 years of leasing 10+ cars.
